Why the World Needs Sonic Adventure 3

Toby from The Game Bolt: "Sega is slowly building up to an announcement regarding the 25th Anniversary of everybody’s favourite blue blur – Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic is however home to a very demanding (and dare I say it) fickle fan-base so whatever game Sega do end up announcing to celebrate Sonic’s 25th birthday, people will be annoyed. However, I believe the game Sega can announce that will rile up the fewest amount of people is Sonic Adventure 3."

Sonic '06's structure was the closest we'll ever get to a Sonic Adventure 3.

The series since the has found new more successful structures, so there's no need to revisit that formula.

bouzebbal3395d ago (Edited 3395d ago )

i'm a big Sonic fan back in time and i think they should stop making them.. every single episode since Sonic Adventures 1 has been a disgrace to what the franchise brought to the genre... Sonic completely lost me since the locked attack was introduced in SA2.
SA2 was a step back from SA1 due to the fact that they removed the open world and the other character's missions were a pain in the a** with zero fun factor (Knuckles assembling stones with his radar...)

DiscoKid3395d ago (Edited 3395d ago )

Exactly. People say that '06 wasn't SA formula, but neither was SA2, because they completely eliminated the "Adventure" Field. A Chao Garden doesn't give the game any more or any less Adventure aspect.

higgins783395d ago

For 'the world' read - a small section of desperate hopefuls.

ritchi453395d ago

I'd be perfectly happy if they released the Chao garden segment, mixed with mini games to earn the Drives (kinda like Sonic Shuffle). Have online races between other player's Chao would be great imo

FlyingFoxy3395d ago

Yeah a new SA game similar to SA2 but with refinements would make for a greatly polished sonic game in my opinion too.

Dark corners of the world request crash bandicoot.

Huh, it's almost like they should try listening to fans that have asked for a new one over the last two decades... At this point, I've given up hope though honestly. Saw a lot of people loving Frontiers, but I could not get into it. It just felt so generic with the world and level designs. The thing I loved about the franchise was that each level felt unique with the colors, design, music, etc.

Also, don't you have to get a mod to even run this above 30 FPS on Steam? I recall someone on YouTube playing this for the first time and having a hard time getting things working. Sucks that such a beloved game is treated poorly.

Cacabunga140d ago

SA2 was only good as Sonic. Knuckles levels were pure disaster.
SA1 was a far better game.

NotoriousWhiz140d ago

I actually liked the robotnik levels least of all. Knuckles wasn't too bad cause of the music lol.

DivineHand125140d ago

I agree the knuckle levels were the worst part of the game. It broke the flow of the gameplay and the music was off for a sonic game. It felt like those knuckle levels were made by a different dev.

The Sonic and tails levels, however, were awesome. The multiplayer mode was interesting and my brother and I spent hours

Still have SA2 Battle. Those Knuckles & Rouge stages aged very poorly but I still have fun with all the other character stages. Shame Sega doesn't seem interested. I can't imagine fans were clamoring for a mediocre Colors port over either SA game being ported.

gold_drake140d ago

i still have it for gamecube ps3 and ps4 haha.

good game, but chaannky. or the camera is anyways

Demetrius140d ago

It's like most devs will never actually atleast try to deliver a fan favorite title. Simpsons hit&run remake or sequel, bully 2, new sonic adventures title, another thoroughly made good batman singeplayer titles. Smh the list goes on

Ewwww 3D Sonic. Should be playing a good Sonic game. Heck even Sonic Spinball over that trash.

The 7 Best Sonic the Hedgehog Games: Racing through Time

Sonic the Hedgehog has a long and turbulent history in videogames, but which are the best games featuring the blue bur?

Rebel_Scum463d ago

Generations over Mania? Please… Generations doesnt have any new ideas in the levels/bosses.

Also a top 7 of Sonic games shouldn’t have any 3D crap and contain at least one of the 8-bit titles.

Sonic CD getting snubbed is weird. Number 1 is definitely interchangable between Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Snookies12463d ago

Nothing wrong with putting Generations over Mania. Generations had a lot more to it. Mania was just a bit too short, despite how amazing it was. They're both top-tier Sonic games though.

Profchaos463d ago (Edited 463d ago )

I don't think mania was to short given 1,2,3, knuckles were between 1 and 3 hours long.

Mania was 5 hours roughly

However i say the originals feel more repayable because they are so short

Profchaos463d ago (Edited 463d ago )

The 8 bit games were pretty bad overall do you mean the 16 bit ones

Rebel_Scum463d ago

Nope. Sonic 1 & 2 on the master system were great. Dont confuse these with the game gear versions either.

Profchaos463d ago

Top 7 for me
7 cd
6 mania
5 Frontiers
4 sonic 3
3 sonic 1
2 sonic and knuckles
1 sonic 2

persona4chie463d ago

Sometimes I feel like the Sonic Advanced games just didn’t exist with how much it’s always forgotten 😭

Chocoburger461d ago

Even as a Sonic fan, I didn't really care for those games, and getting the Chaos Emeralds were freakin' horrible. Even with an emulator and save states, I didn't have the desire to try. I also didn't like most of the levels or bosses either. Unfortunately, DiMPs aren't good at making Sonic games.

For someone like me that started playing games at late 90s it was heartbreaking to see what happened to SEGA. Good to hear this because how things were going in the last years for them. I remember the time when they closed a lot of arcades in Japan. Or even when Microsoft almost bought them several years ago.

Sgt_Slaughter905d ago

I have a feeling the sales will drop a ton the next week since everyone figured out it's barebones and a technical mess. Hype and name brand can only get you so far.

I wanted to like this game but they did everything possible to disappoint. Maybe they can use this as a stepping stone for a future title, but so far this isn't it.
