FGE - Layers of Fear builds on the story-focused genre of gaming seen in Gone Home by adding some of the horror elements of P.T. and its own psychological horror elements to create an immersive gaming experience that is a unique addition to the current horror genre. The gameplay is similar to that of Gone Home, in that it’s focused on exploring and examining objects to further the story over traditional action. There’s also multiple little notes, sketches, and other objects that aren’t critical to progress the main story, but offer interesting details that add to it, similar to Gone Home. However, that’s where the similarities end, since Layers of Fear begins to take you on a psychological journey, where safety and horror are entwined and impossible to separate.
With Layers of Fear, Bloober Team reworks their previous horror releases into a single package that’s worth revisiting and getting spooked over again.
This is the definitive version of the game and it brings all the previous Layers of Fear content together in a cohesive whole.
GB: "Even in a year as excellent for gaming as 2023 has been, there have been more than a few disappointing releases."
Greyhill Incident had potential but got slammed. I’ll still try it, but on sale or GamePass. Someday.
