Howell from GamersFTW writes: "Ahh, collecting monsters, and training them to battle other monsters. Few games feel better than these over-justified cock-fights, with Pokémon reigning as king. While Pokémon never fails to fill gamers with nostalgia, it's great to look at how other games in the genre have taken the concept in interesting ways, evolving into more than just rip-offs. Here are 7 of the best."
Nintendo and The Pokemon Company's Pokemon Gen 10, codenamed Gaia, will be exclusive to the upcoming Switch 2, based on a new rumor.
Is anyone expecting anything less? It will be exclusive to Switch 2 eventhough it will still look like a 3DS game
not surprised.
nintendo was prepared to have some games sell the console.
im sure the game will still look like its from the ps2 era tho.
I've lost interest in pokemon, the mega evolve stuff was a poor digimon rip off, then the stuttering mess the 3d versions are.
I'd love a remake of gold/silver in a top down view like lets go pikachu had, but sticking with the traditional pokemon mechanics.
Pokecology is a real book based on the behavioral science and ecology of Pokemon, and it's coming (to Japan) in mid-June.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are set to receive upgrades for the Nintendo Switch 2 to improve performance when the new console launches later this year.
Jade Cocoon was a fantastic game with so much potential. Would love to see the series make a proper comeback...dream on, right?
Digimon was so blatant, but I did like the more mature tone. Yo Kai Watch missed the mark a bit by introducing something even more juvenile than Pokémon.
Also the games:
Ni no Kuni
Azure Dreams
Just saying by logic if the knock is better then the original.... then its the new original. Digimon was overall better then pokemon but I know I am going to get down voted :P
What Digimon failed to do was make any substantial long lasting game formula for their games, they're too diverse to really get people to stay attached. The "farm" aspect was always left to the side in games past the 1st Digimon World, despite that being an interesting game mechanic that makes sense for the creatures and how they came to be(tomadatchi). The battling aspect for majority of the games is rather bland, and the "rumbles" were always too simplistic.
I will say that I think they should capitalize on Digimon World Championship styled combat. I love the farm aspect of digimon, and just letting them duke it out was very cool and entertaining, just not realized in a big way being limited to a rather ugly DS game. I also think Digimon would be an amazing "animal crossing" type game taking place in the digital world, befriending digimon and helping in various problems, with some light battling aspects.
