Hardware Rivals is fast-paced and vibrant on paper but has too many barriers slowing it down from being a good game.
GuidesCloud: Below is given the list of 8 worst PlayStation 4 games so far. We don’t want more games in this list because the technical team must now focus more on resolving all the issues before a game is marketed because that leaves the negative impression on the minds of PS4 fans.
Never played the Order but Knack was a good game imo. I enjoyed it more than Killzone Shadow Fall. I really don't understand all the hate it gets. It makes me wonder how many of you all actually played the game?
Slight edit: Not directed at the op just wondering if folks just jump on the hate bandwagon. I don't Judge Ryse or the Order because I haven't played them. I do agree SW Battefront was very disappointing indeed.
I dunno what people expected from Knack to have become the punching bag of the PS haters and even fans. I thought it wqs a good couch co op launch game. It had flaws, but I had fun with it with my brother. It was a good throwback to the old days...
I could see whst Cerny and the team wanted to achieve with Knack. I think a sequel can be better
Clearly fanboy flamebait, there are much worse PS4 games than Driveclub, The Order 1886 and Knack.
Not sure if there are many games on any PlayStation that are worse than Knack.
After all the hype it got, we got served some subpar PS1-like gameplay with gfx that were below PS3 day 1 releases.
You might have enjoyed it, it doesn't make it good. At all.
When Knack, Driveclub and The Order are considered your "worst games", I'd say you're doing pretty damn good. Not gonna say any of them were game of the year material, but I played all 3 and didn't think they were horrible.
Agreed. I enjoyed and finished knack, I had no idea it was a bad game until I later read it on the internet :p
omg the writer is such a moron..
DriveClub is the best racer i played since MK8.
Knack is an old school action platformer. if it's hard for him the i can understand it's one of the worst games.
And then he adds some games to the list that no one ever heard of, just to make it sound like he knows his shit. You fail you imbecile.
The Order is not bad.
I assume most people who would say it's one of the worst games haven't actually played it. The only thing really wrong with it is how short it is. The gameplay is good, the graphics and detail are off the charts and the story while lacking due to game length was interesting and could have really gone somewhere.
Knack, well, it was a rushed launch title so they could offer at least one family friendly game. It's not great but it is what it is.
I dont think any Ps4 exclusive has been terrible. The low rated ones are just generic or too short
Well... The Order was far from generic as far as the story went... I can't think of any other game set in an alternate 1800's Britain. And it's pretty much the same length and Ryse and the gameplay part of Quantum Break.
And Knack, again it was just a game for people to buy so the kids could have a game to play with the families new PS4.
But w/e everyone has their opinions.
Like in Chapter 7 where you pressed 🔺 once and walked forward for 2 min? Or the Chapter where you rotate a clock and watch a cutscene? Indeed, real great gameplay right there.
The Order was good looking and nothing else. The story was filled with holes and rather poorly written. "I have to show u something, follow me for 10 min to find it what it is. No, I cant say what it is, no time, lets talk about something else" Zzzzzzzz. Or the linear map design...
Nah. The Order was crap, this coming from a PS4 only owner. A polished turd is still a turd.
I still say The Order is a good game. It was just never finished. It ends abruptly. It's as if the developers ran out of money. It's a shame, I was getting into the characters and story. It needed at least 5 more hours, but it just ends all of sudden leaving so many plot holes in the story.
My Best friend makes $96/hour on the internet. She has been laid off for six months but last month her paycheck was $12800 just working on the internet for a few hours. you have nothing to lose... Read more on this web site.. Go to tech tab for work detail... www.earnmore9.com
The Order wasn't perfect and it left a lot to be desired, but I surmise the bulk of the disappointment comes from it being released as it was well beyond the launch window. It's incredibly beautiful, but short and shallow.
Be that as it may, I'd be hard pressed to call it one of the worst titles on the console. It has redeeming qualities and was made by a very capable studio. I think "disappointing" better describes what it was.
I couldnt even call it dissapointing as it has been one of my favorite games this generation. The smear campaign was dissapointing. The game is beautiful with some of the most fun gun battles i've experienced. I loved the story, it was unique and i hope there are sequels. The graphics are probably second only to Uncharted, and it had an original orchestral score which was awesome. All the bitching was instigated by the early smear campaign. "Its too short" even though its the same lenght as gears of war, quantum break etc. "it doesnt innovate" even thiugh it actually DOES. (Well more than some other games), "it doesnt have gameplay" well thats just wrong because at no point did i feel like i was playing a movie even though i was waiting for it since i had heard the rumours. Basically people like Stupid above are lying through their teeth.
@stupid
You are a lier. There is no way in hell the order should be concidered a bad game. People like you are are blatantly lying to peoppe, shame on you.
Knack was Okay but Driveclub was a great game. The rest of the list i agree with
^Watch Dogs was way worse. I prefer a short game to one I can't even force myself to finish. I'm pretty sure The Order1886 wouldn't get so much hate if it was 5-10 hours longer.
@magician
I guess that makes Ryse the worst AAAA game of this generation then, eh? :^)
@magiciandude
Quantum Break deserves that title, followed by Ryse.
How can quantum break be a terrible game if it has a higher meta score than The order and knack?
Ponies going crazy
Not too certain if you noticed, but the title says PS4... Or you did notice and simply don't care...
Rule #45 - Someone says a Sony game is bad, quickly respond with an Xbox title, then smile sit back and know justice has been served.
To each their own but I've played through the order twice and started a third. Story is good, characters are good, game is visually great. A little on rails but it's a story driven game and I knew that going in so I take no issue with it.
This. So disappointed with how that turned out, so much potential. Even if DICE literally gave a graphical boost to Battlefront 2 it would have been a much better game, but now with this impostor of a Battlefront game the player count has dropped significantly (now lower than Battlefield 4).
@PressPlayBro
That's what was implied, obviously. Look at the list, see any that aren't exclusive?
@crimsonWing69 lol!! You know what it is? We're smarter than these ppl!!! It's frustrating because their the ones whose opinions have far more reach than ours and it sucks. Everyone who frequented N4G are pretty intelligent ppl; rather if the comments are consistent with YOUR console of choice or not. Why can't one, or a few of you highly intellectual, beautiful human beings design a site where REAL video game enthusiasts such as myself can thrive in the forms of reviews or other video game related issues?
What does that even mean ? what kind of hatred have you developed for this game have you even played it ?
I called Knack being crap when they announced. It was a throw away launch title much like 360's forgetable launch title, Kameo: Elements of Power. It's generic fluff that supposed to show you what the console can do, but both these titles left us yawning.
Kameo has a lot more depth, variety and better gameplay, story and characters. Knack isn't awful, but it's insanely mediocre.
OK Driveclub is in there... With that, I kind of doubt the list itself.
The first phrase resumes all "The graphics of Driveclub have a lot of deficiencies."...
ಠ_ಠ
Don't make a short paragraph about the game and make it 8 pages long. I'll save people the trouble.
8. Hardware: Rivals
7. The Order: 1886
6. Godzilla
5. Driveclub
4. Knack
3. Onechanbara Z2: Chaos
2. Basement Crawl
1. Fluster Cluck
it's actually 7 pages, weirdly enough one page in the middle has 2 on it.
i understand the last page having 2, iv'e seen that before, but never randomly in the middlle
Both those games only come up in "exclusive" lists fanboys on here use to justify their post purchase rationalization. So I would disagree, it seems many people have indeed forgotten them and moved onto Uncharted 4. Most of you people also have forgotten games like Warhawk that were easily game of the generation.
I'm not interested fanboy lists. Both those games were fun to play (killzone did take a step back from previous entries in the series and became more generic but it was still fun). Of course people have moved onto uncharted 4. It's the hot new thing.
Those games actually have good scores. Only xbox fanboys think those games were bad. Infamous and its DLC i particular, were good fun games
Not trying to troll but I thought both of those games was actually better than Quantum Break IMO. Quantum Break game play and story got boring to me. Even Until Dawn was better than Quantum Break. I don't blame Microsoft though I blame Remedy. Angry Joes review on Quantum Break is accurate though.
Not even close lol Quantum Break is better than all of those
@sammarshall102 If you say so. Until Dawn actually has a higher review score than Quantum Break.
http://www.metacritic.com/g... Quantum Break score
http://www.metacritic.com/g... Until Dawn Score
https://www.youtube.com/wat... Quantum Break video review
Even infamous: Second son has a higher review score than Quantum Break
http://www.metacritic.com/g...
If doing nothing but walking and staring at objects is more exciting than freezing an enemy, loading them up with bullets and watching them explode, then teleporting behind another for a K.O to you then i question your gaming taste lol.
Onechanbara Z2: Chaos will be releasing on PC this month I think , drive club defiantly the biggest let down for me :( ,, wtf there is even a game on godzilla ?
You dont have to be a Playstation fan to see this guy has no clue what hes talking about,
"the graphics of Driveclub have a lot of deficiencies",
give me a break. Its little more then a bunch of weak generalizations, he gives no facts to back up or support his claims its evident by his shallow points he hasn't played any of the games. Now see yourself out kiddo.
Where did I state in my comment the article was good? All these games were disappointments, so it's not really a big deal he included them. His points for including them do suck, however, the games he chose are indeed some of the worst.
Because you say so? How would you know they're bad if you haven't played them? Let me guess, because of the score?
Frinker also said that The Phantom Pain has the best narrative of all Metal Gear Solid games, because it's the only one that he played, lol.
You are clueless just like the guy that wrote this "article".
look at my psn trophies (Frinker) MGS Peacewalker and 3 are on there so rip your point
Not that you would know cause you haven't played any of them, I bought Drive Club and admittedly the game had a really rough start but no game had better support from a developer and the game vastly improved and became a very solid racing game, and the graphics are unquestionable. The fact that he even tries to downplay DC's graphics says a lot about the author, and the fact you agree with him says even more about you. You guys can have your opinions but I dont see why xbox fanboys like you and the author need to share them with us we all know what they are.
Xbox fanboy? lol. i probably have more platinum trophies than you and have owned a PS4 since launch. I don't have an xbox one, i'm just not a blind fanboy like you who defends all bad and mediocre exclusives.
So you're actually worse then an xbox fanboy at least they're honest about where their loyalties lie. I dont defend bad games I stand up for games that get shit on by people like you, take your smear campaign elsewhere, you may not game on xbone but you sure sound like you should.
So what? According to you I'm at fault because I'm not a blind fanboy of a company? Wow. You do realize you can be a fan of a company and their games, but still criticize some decisions and games that said company puts out? It's called being sane and not delusional. You should give it a go sometime. I've praised PS4 games I liked; Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 are my favourite games this gen, and Ratchet is up there too. Stop acting like everything has to be black and white, where you have to defend everything a company does, and if you don't you're automatically labelled a fanboy of the opposition. Dosen't work like that...
putting games like Drive Club & The Order on a "worst ps4 games so far" is ridiculous I mean there are FAR WORSE games out there.
Your'e putting those 2 games on a list with games like Basement Crawl & Godzilla ?! Trash site is trash.
Apparently grammar isn't a requirement for N4G articles. Not that its really neccassary for click bait I guess.
I didn't mind Knack and The Order, but thats just my opinion. They definitely aren't for everyone though.
its funny how the order is a 2 in some reviews yet somehow quantum break is a 8 ...im telling people there is a definitive hatred for sony exclusives i dont understand where it comes from ....but just look at this comment thread its cancer...
I love these clickbait articles constantly bashing the PS4 and its games. We know why you mad so keep em coming.
Onechanbara Z2: Chaos really is pretty okay. It's an arcade like 3D beat-em-up that has you skillfully taking down various enemies with multiple characters bearing unique skill sets. The story is lame and the characters are kind of dumb, but gameplay wise it feels like a game that leapt out of arcade, from stage construction to enemies to combat, and even the way the story is told and stages are graded.
Fan service is definitely a huge part of the visual presentation, but if you get past that, there is a decently average game that is worth around $20 if you can nab it for that price or cheaper.
I did a full review from a legit review code if anybody wants to give it a read. I won't post it freely in the comments though since that would basically be self promotion.
Driveclub and the order didn't deserve the backlash they got. I really liked them both screw the reviews metacritic is absolute garbage now anyways
8 pages for 8 games? Boobs & thighs for a thumbnail? No thanks, I am not interested in your s*hit content.
I can see how people would not like some games. But it seems like everyone on here that is listing games......are all games I enjoy. LOL. Pretty much, you can count on one hand the number of great games based off movies or movie games. Goldeneye is the exception on N64 but not many more.
-Knack: I never played so I can't bag on it.
- Star Wars Battlefront: Compaired to Battlefield 4/Battlefield Hardline/CoD:Ghosts/CoD:Advanc ed Warfare/CoD:BO3, its not a bad shooter at all. It runs better than any or them and has better graphics and rightfully so. Its still pretty new. Best running Dice shooter I have ever played. Extraction might be my favorite game mode of all time now that is on The Outer Rim DLC. 60 fps ain't no joke. It runs great. Don't know where all the hate is on this game. No single player????? Its something that I can overlook but I guess most can't seem to get past. My advice. Don't knock it till you try it. I knocked it until I tried it.....it shut me up real quick. Best shooter this gen so far for me.
- The Order 1886: For $10, this game was great. The ones that jumped ship and paid $60 for it are the only ones complaining about it. The game itself is stunning. Great graphics.
- Driveclub: I don't like the fact that you can't upgrade or customize cars much. But it has the prettiest rain I've ever seen on a windshield in a video game. Putting Forza 6 (even DX12) to shame. Not even the new Grand Turismo is close. They even made a point to let everyone know there won't be dynamic weather in there game. Myself just thinks they know they are a knotch below Driveclub weather effects and didn't want to dissapoint fans. Driveclub was even free for a while, but those kind of free games suck to be honost. Who wants a stripped down version of a game. I'll never understand that.
All I can say is, to each his own. I'm sure I can name atleast four or five games in your collection that I can't stand either but I bet you think there okay. Right?
I agree. I mean the game does have some subjective issues that may be dealbreakers for some according to their tastes, but to me an "awful" or "worst of" game is one that is fundamentally broken or flawed. The Order performed very well, the gunplay was satisfying & the weapons were unique & interesting. The forced stealth section wasn't that fun, the werewolf fights could've had some variations, some cutscenes were a bit overly long and the game was a bit on the short side, but those aren't necessarily dealbreakers for everyone.
I'd rate it somewhere between a 7-8...a really solid core foundation that could be fleshed out & create some real magic if they ever revisit it. Expand that unique arsenal, let us use those weapons more often through the entire campaign, give us a bit more depth w/ the combat scenarios, remove a few of the qte's & lengthen the game and you could have an amazing title.
Agree with you on all counts. The Order 1886 definitely has all the potential to become something really great. The characters, and the universe they live in, are already top notch, and the dialogue was, in my opinion, the best I've seen on any videogame. The lines were delivered very naturally, and yes, the gameplay was fun, and it was actually quite engaging to try out the different weapons (when in most games, you usually stick to just a couple of weapons and forget about the rest).
Yup, I definitely want a sequel. More so because I really want to know what happened with Galahad and The Order itself after the game's "finale", which really left the story unresolved, which was its worst shortcoming in my opinion. Not even the game lenght, but the fact that the story was basically left hanging out in the middle.
onechan wasn't the best but it's not like it was trying to be something great lol it's basically a fan service game like doax3~ it's a simple hack and slash that absolutely no one bought for the mechanics. it's there for boobs and simple fun.
A list of worst games without gone home on should be immediately be disregarded because it is not an accurate list
From the games i have played it would go: 1 being the worst...
1. Godzilla
2. Knack
3. The Order
4. Drive Club
5. Until Dawn
6. Killzone
Now before you castrate me, this is just MY list of games that I thought either didn't live up to the hype or my taste... I'm not saying that these are THE WORST GAMES this gen...
Now make a list of the 8 worst Videogame Websites and put yourselves at numero uno.
That's the worst list they have!?! WOW PS4 is a DAMN AMAZING system if their worst games are this damn good!!
"The PlayStation 4 (shortly known as PS4)..." Thanks for the update Sherlock!
If Knack and the Order are in the top-8 worst PS4 games, then it's no wonder it's at 40 million 2.5 years in because these are very nice games. Sure Knack was a bit rough around the edges but it was still very well achieved. And I can't wait for the announcement of 1887, the first game wasn't perfect but it opened the gate to an amazing world, so much potential.
The only two I have played are order, driveclub. Drive isn't $60 to begin with. And order I guess it's notams I would've payed $60 for dc it's actually good. I liked it, but I only gave it a once around.
"Driveclub does not deserve to stand out among the competitors. It is a multiplayer PlayStation 4 game, and the theme is about a driver club where a lot of people live and die. The infrastructure, however, is user-friendly."
Wtf...?!?
DriverClub where a lot of people live and die...?!?!"
- I can understand the order 1886. The deceptive marketing doesn't work in video games. Everyone thought it was gears on PlayStation until the press got ahold of it and called it clunky garbage. It's better to be upfront about your game and let people know what it is. I think the order would have been received better if they were more honest.
- knack is a decent game. It did what it was trying to do. I can't hate.
The rest I have no idea, I'll take your word for it. It's nice to see basement crawl in the number 2 spot for a change. The shitstorm that rained down on that little studio when the PS store was bare bones lol. I felt bad for them. Their trailer was great though... That deceptive marketing kicks your ass every time.
Check your facts. They were honest about how it was going to be the entire time. A cinematic experience, not a straight up TPS. It was the media that kept comparing it to Gears.
My facts and privilege stay checked pal. They never denied or corrected the comparison until after the press trashed it. They let the press run with it to get maximum coverage.
Everyone including the press was waiting for gears on PlayStation, nobody knew otherwise. Their PR (or lack thereof) bit them on the ass. I can't blame them on letting the press generate hype, when you don't deliver it becomes a problem though.
I only own a x1, as well as a BC PS3, NES, 360, super NES, Genesis, and Nintendo 64. I admit that I'm team MS thru and through but I'm sorry, I love knack. I don't understand where all the hate and vitriol that spews from the mouths of some ppl as it pertains to Knack, REALLY!!
Never played knack, but the order shouldn't be there.
Was it good. No!
Was it the absolute worst, far from it.
godzilla
knack
the order
infamous
killzone
driveclub
street fighter
All games that are beyond terrible and proof of why the xbox is winning the exclusive race by a land slide...
Knack isn't so bad. I like it. Maybe it's not the top of the category, but like they say, "The devil is not as ugly as people paint it" (or whatever). Heard a lot of negative things about it, then i got it on the store for something like $9 and i liked it. Not the top of graphic and gameplay, but it's nice and funny.
I agree with all the other titles, beside Driveclub: "The graphics of Driveclub have a lot of deficiencies. Not only this but also it has no element to keep you occupied until the end."
What?!?! Clearly the guy doesn't even know what's DriveClub or how it is... Kept getting tracks, cars, support, add-ons, etc. And the graphics.. "lot of deficiencies"... really? Oh, i know, for those who hated the game (and without a ps4) it has been obscene since the start and they don't lose a chance to criticize it. Sadness...
This is just stupid. And clearly the writer of this is no gamer, thats for sure. Drive club is among the BEST games for PS4. Its the reason i bought an PS4 and not a X1. Its even one of the best racing games i have ever played. And the order is such a underrated game. The game is totally destroid because of the stupid game critics. Well the Order is totally AWESOME. Try it out and see for yourself. THIS ARTICLE SUCHSSSSS
I'll never understand why websites want to put each number in a countdown on it's own page, I tend to walk away when I see it. Anyways, Knack and Driveclub shouldn't be on this list.
I tried really hard to hear out the author of this article, but it's clear that they didn't pass high school English. Also, it's total fanboy clickbait.
IN all the playstation years that have existed and I have played, the ps4 is by far the worst as far as games go.
Most of these games are fine for the right audience, others have been fixed since launch, as this is an opinion piece and not a review it really should take that into account. Was expecting to see actually terribly broken titles like Motorcycle club.
Onechanbara is on my back log, but from what I did play, the gameplay feels solid. I've also never heard anyone say anything bad about the game. I doubt the writer has ever touched the game, and just hates it on principle because the women show some skin.
Seriously, people need to learn that fan service doesn't automatically make a game bad.
oh the old Kotaku method. write something controversial and get thousands of hits from people writing about how stupid the author is. some in kotaku should give this guy a job.
killzone shadowfall was not good, that drive club and knack were my three biggest dissaponitments. That said there are tons of other great games to enjoy on the console.
The Order 1886 isn't that bad once you get into it. The storytelling can really put you off at first, but if you have a little patience it does get better. Knack was a real grind for me towards the end. I'm a sucker for bejeweled and card collecting, so I liked the companion app. Driveclub felt on par with latest Gran Turismo imo - not really bad, but not really great either. I can definitely think of worse games - Thief comes to mind.
Knack wasn't bad at all. The Order on the other hand is everything that's wrong with AAA games nowadays. If only the developers focused on the actual game as much as the graphics, it could have been something.
Driveclub, Knack and the Order don't belong into this list. It is however a shame that this article got a 1080° here.
Of course one of the best is on a list of the worst (The Order) which totally makes sense, lol. Onechanbara and Driveclub are also awesome.
I thought hardware rivals was a fantastic game, sure it isn't the game everyone will come back to after long, but while i played it i thought it was one of the best ps4 games, would have played it a lot more if it had any kind of basic leaderboard system since it was one of the few games where i was actually topping scoreboards
Oneechanbara was fun enough too, definitely not the best game in the world but a fun enough game to hoe fun with now and again at least.
Not sure if it's like a translation error here, but these criticisms seem so half-assed, like the writer barely cares about this.
I also wish there was a rule, if your comment is less than a certain amount of lines, you have to have a minimum of 2 points per pagr
I thought Knack was pretty boring. Rented it from Gamefly just to see how bad it really was. While it wasn't totally unplayable it just felt so lack luster. Also rented the Order and enjoyed that for what it was.
The Order 1886 was a phenomenal game. You guys are insane in the membrane.
Spring is in the air, the flowers are in bloom and the noses of hayfever sufferers everywhere have started to twitch in anticipation of the unrelenting onslaught to come. Not to be outdone by the pollen, the Hardware: Rivals team has been working on an altogether more enjoyable means of making your eyes water. The Spring content drop is on the way!
Hardware: Rivals is still getting its fair share of updates on PS4, as evident by the latest such update that went live a little earlier today.
