Gone Home: Console Edition Review | Gamespresso

Gamespresso: "Gone Home is an exceptional game, and a chief example of the narrative power a virtual world can have. I’ll never meet the Greenbriar family, but just with my time in Gone Home I feel like I know them just as intimately as many characters that have entire novels devoted to them."

I liked GH a lot. Not "10/10 a lot" probably, but fair enough. :D

It does what it sets out to do at least.

1/10 -- my opinion. Without a doubt the most over hyped game of all time. This is nothing but political correctness. Without the lesbian theme this game wouldn't have received the accolades it did.

1/10, that's a little too high IMO.

It's not for everybody, but this game had a huge impact on me and it's not a question of political correctness. Just like a great indie movie, Gone Home was an amazing experience that will stay in my brain and my heart for many, many years. Too bad if it did not worked for you.

That's your opinion and I completely disagree with it. Granted the impact of the subject matter is subjective, but games like Dear Esther, which in my mind was a much more interesting experience, didn't receive nearly the same amount of attention. Why? Dear Esther is about dealing with death and grief, and should be just as emotionally impacting, yet the gaming press largely ignored it. Why I ask again? It was the same type of game. Both games had good graphics and great presentations.

Adding the lesbian theme is the only reason the gaming press made such a big fuss over it. Take away the lesbian theme and Gone Home wouldn't have been nominated for anything, thus my conclusion that it was popular because of the cultures obsession with political correctness.

@Ben_Rage_3 Dear Esther was the most boring game I played in my life. Proof that the subject affect us in different ways and that is a good thing.

Top 10 Walking Simulators on Xbox One

Dave writes: "If you’re a fan of walking simulators, then the name probably sticks in the throat, but let’s ‘own it’ and chuck the best and mightiest of the genre into a bear pit and let them have at it! Hoo-rah! As with most genre lists, there’s some controversy about what does or doesn’t constitute a walking simulator. Dialogue and navigation is preferred over puzzles and more intensive interaction like combat or QTEs. Jumping/crouching is positively frowned upon. Strap on your hiking boots and let’s ramble!"
