For one thing, Sicario sn’t just a movie. It’s also a sobering, meaningful exploration at the very real way our North American drug culture has enabled vicious cartels to wage war on the borders in blood-curdling ways none of us could possibly understand. It also shines a light on the increasing hopelessness of the so-called “war on drugs”, a war which – let’s face it – will never be won.
