Does the first Uncharted game still hold up?

Seriously? Why review only one of the games when 3 are in the package. Kind of stupid if you ask me.

PixelGateUk3416d ago

title clearly states 'Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Remastered'

So they're reviewing them on a individual basis.

Rimeskeem3416d ago

I can read, but why not just review them all at once. If all 3 games get a 7/10 but there are 3 games in the bundle the score would go up because the value of the bundle makes the price much better. Reviewing the games on an individual basis when it is meant to be a bundle is sort of contradicting.

DragoonsScaleLegends3416d ago

So if the remastered version get's a 7/10, what would they give the original? 5/10? Seems low regardless.

jb2273416d ago

To be fair, regardless of the constraints for the review, this thing seemed pretty poorly put together. It's strange to me that someone who bought a ps3 solely off of the promise of UC2, just like myself, wouldn't go back & grab Uc1 on the cheap at any point during the console's cycle...it was literally the next thing I did after finishing Uc2....that alone is a bit off putting & maybe drives home that the writer in question doesn't necessarily share my own love for the core series, but when he goes on to say UC1 felt "too much like a movie" I was totally lost. If anything, the first game had the fewest cinematic leanings, and even then, none of the games ever suffered for being cinematic because they were games first & foremost & cinematic only in presentation & not in gameplay terms.

I guess a 7 is a respectable score (although I disagree for my tastes), but the reasoning & actual body of the text is all kinds of confusing. It is still insane to me that someone who claims love for the series & writes for a site called 'ps4daily' could have completely neglected to actually play through every installment in the Uncharted series prior to 3 months after the remastered collection dropped.

More clicks this way. I could understand if each game was available separately but they aren't.

Rimeskeem3415d ago

Exactly my point, thank you!

I really like the first Uncharted but some things did bug me. For example why are the bad guy almost bullet proof.

Rimeskeem3416d ago

They aren't, you just have to hit them in the head :-P

coolbeans3415d ago

Well OBVIOUSLY they were wearing Kevlar tank-tops. ;)

SCW19823416d ago

Solid 8 for me but there are some glaring flaws compared to 2 and 3. Looks great on the remaster though.

Inzo3416d ago

I love Drakes Fortune, I gave it an 9 back then and even now 9 years on its still a great game.

jznrpg3415d ago

I just started this collection (played ps3 versions) on ps4 and I am really impressed with Drakes Fortune. It looked bad on ps3 compared to 2 and 3 and it looks so much better with the remaster. I would recommend this especially to anyone who hasn't played them before.

Six Times When Games Turned Into A Horror Game

Ever play a game a game only to discover at some point it transforms into a horror game? No? Well Netto's Game Room shares six games that do just that!

Immediately thought of the El Dorado zombie dudes in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.

raWfodog6d ago (Edited 6d ago )

Not necessarily a ‘horror’ moment, but I remember feeling really tense and anxious when the Flood were first introduced in the original Halo. I never felt more on edge or nervous in that whole game as that moment. I think it was the whole buildup that something terrible was coming but you didn’t know exactly what.

Another non-horror game that had me feeling it was Subnautica. The deep dark depths, and knowing that sea monsters were lurking nearby, had me jumping at every sound.

NettosGameRoom5d ago

That scene where you first see them attack is pretty crazy!

Relientk775d ago

I remember being scared of the Asylum level in the most recent Thief game from 2014.

Uncharted Cast Doesn’t Take the Games’ Success For Granted at MCM Comic-Con

Uncharted, Not The Last of Us, is Naughty Dog’s True Backbone

The Last of Us is easily Naughty Dog's most popular IP, but Uncharted deserves as much praise if not more for being its guinea pig all the while.

...and here I was thinking it was Way of the Warrior. All the mo-cap they cut their teeth on to refine their skills later for such things like Uncharted and LoU.

As a fun little side project... I'd love to see them take a crack at Way of the Warrior 2.

specialguest636d ago

Way of the Warrior was impressive looking on video game magazines. I remember wishing I could play it on the 3DO. So many years later I finally got to see the gameplay on the internet and it was complete trash 😂. Nothing like MK

anast637d ago

Both great IPs, some of the best in gaming.

jznrpg637d ago (Edited 637d ago )

Can’t it be that all of their games are their backbone? Who cares anyway as long as they make good games I’ll buy them.

MIDGETonSTILTS17637d ago

I loved Uncharted 2, and none of the others compare IMO.

Fluke_Skywalker637d ago

I recently replayed them all and I used to think 2 was the best but now I'd definitely say 4 is the best. Not that there's much in it, they're all amazing. But 4 is the best.

-Foxtrot637d ago

Nah

Uncharted 2 had better pacing, Elena and Sully were featured far more, Nadine was an awful villain compared to Harry Flynn and it also had a fantastic multiplayer on top where Uncharted 4 ruined it making it into an over the top arcade shooter with gimmicks.

MIDGETonSTILTS17636d ago

I liked the expansion to 4 more than 4 itself. 4 was great for me too, did alotta new stuff…

But….

SPOILERS

Nothing beats the unexpected twist at the end of 2.

mastershredder637d ago

I liked it when the games were fun and ridiculous, not the sooty TV-caliber dramas that use Uncharted as a foundation.

TricksterArrow637d ago

I like both types of games. The great thing about games is how diverse they can be and how I can pop in whatever fills my mood at any given time.

Espangerish637d ago

I agree. Uncharted 4 was the least fun. Preferred the simpler fun focussed older versions
