It's all coincidence, you could probably link many games to the new movie. Even moments from the Jedi Knight series can be seen in this film. Kyle Katarn was a Stormtropper before he left them, Finn from the new movie was the same. Maz Kanata's castle also looks very very similar to the Jedi training grounds in Jedi Academy.
