I Am Sick and Tired of Final Fantasy VII

OnlySP: I really don’t have the time to be writing right now. Between my editor-ly duties and my day job and the end of the year bonanza we have going on, it’s really all I can do to remember to sleep and have my customary six helpings of pizza a day. But I just can’t sit quietly anymore. I am absolutely sick and goddamn tired of Final Fantasy VII and Square Enix needs to move on.

i agree that Square's over pursuit of FFVII has tired me also but not because is second best or because they should have remade a different FF entry (i consider FFVII the best in the series by far) ..but because every time they touch FF VII , they are worsening its lore , its atmosphere and the taste of the original game ...I highly doubt that they would manage to keep intact all the elements and details which made VII superior to others...i hope at least to release a good reiteration of the original

Final Fantasy VII was an amazing game and very influential one too. Where do people think movies and other games got the idea of a villain death staring with flames behind them? Just a little example...

FFVII came in an important era in gaming where the PS1 made its debut. It was a hit! It was an amazing game. It got a big following and people wanted more. Square built a compilation of games thay enriched the saga. So far it is the biggest Final Fantasy world and most consistent. Nobody cares about your stupid hate. FFVII is the most popular and Squenix knows this. This is what everyone wants since that PS3 teaser back in the days.

"Square needs to move on" yet he wants them to also go back to other FF games... Ok!

Not liking what I've heard so far about this remake, but I'll wait and see first how everything goes

It has to be the most overrated game in history. The game itself is fine but some people are putting7 on a ppedestal it does not deserve. SE wasting resources on this half hearted remake is making things even worse.

People love ff7, it obviously did so much right if so many people still go crazy for it. It's widely considered the best but of course that's all subjective and not a fact, I get that.

How is it half hearted?? The last trailer they showed gave us a glimpse of an incredibly well recreated Midgar. It actually felt like an updated ff7 world. The graphics looked awesome too. You can see the huge amount of work put in so far. You can say you don't like the combat system and you can say you don't like the multi release but you can't say it's half hearted. If it was half hearted it would just be minimal upgrades to the original game. This is being done from the ground up and will require huge effort on their part. They didn't take the task lightly so calling it half hearted is just wrong.
