Today Hideo Kojima announced the formation of his new studio, which will be called Kojima Productions like his previous team.

E3 2017 maybe.
This studio has just been formed so I doubt they have anything tangible at all for the next few months.
Probably still hiring, moving in, getting equipment and sorting that kind of stuff out. Im sure Kojima has a couple ideas but games take time, E3 is like 5-6 months away and I think that is too soon.

I mean Respawn entertainment (Mostly guys who left infinity ward) was founded in 2010, Titanfall came out in 2014. Even E3 2017 would be sort of early to reveal anything, but one can hope. :)

Ive played every Metal Gear Solid since the PS1 debut. I had always been a fan but it wasnt until MGS3 that I fell in love. Then 4 happened, that game spoke to a part of me that very very few things in my life have. Ive played and replayed that game dozens of times and practically wore out my O.G. "phat" 60 gig ps3. So here comes 5, the hype for me was just unrealistically high and then Konami began to dismantle everything. No David Hayter as Snake is a sin. Creatively tying Kojima Sans hands behind his back was even worse. Then they essentially gagged and blindfolded him while railroading him in the industry. I will no longer buy Konami branded products. Im elated that Sony stepped in and is restoring order and giving a man that is in the upper echelon of video ganes a soft and fitting place to land. Well done Sony.

since 1998 Kojima made only two really great games:

- Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
- Zone of the Enders - The 2nd Runner (PS2)

everything else was mostly copy/past and was just ok. I don't understand why the community is exaggerating his stature to the extreme.

Not to be disrespectful but your statement is a bit asinine. To sit here a proclaim that Kojima hasn't made a "great" game since ZOE is borderline trolling.

Seriously MGS3 is widely regarded as one of the best games of the PS2 era which is known for the stunning variety, number and, quality of games brought to market.

Then MGS4 was in another stratosphere altogether from a story telling standpoint. I cried at the end of that game and there are very few video games to ever elicit that kind of reaction out of me.

I don't understand how you developed such a cynical view on some of Kojima's most revered works.

Please enlighten me as to what made MGS3 "copy and paste" or what made MGS4 "copy and paste". Some of the stealth elements that Kojima has implemented through both of those titles are heavily borrowed from in a lot of major AAA releases.

first I want to establish that I've played every major MGS game and I enjoyed them all to different extents except for MGS2 (yes I was one of those who didn't like Raiden nor the story but that's an argument for another day), so I'm an MGS fan as much as anyone else. I also want to point that I was careful when I said "really great games",, I didn't ignore the latter games' achievements but rather emphasized on how well and innovative the original was in comparison.

I don't want to dwell into specifics but if you're honest you will agree that at the core they are all the same in term of gameplay and you can feel that you've done this before.

Story wise; I believe it's relative. what ticks for some may not for others but in my opinion MGS1 was the pinnacle in intelligent story telling and credible fiction.

the latter games had their highs and lows but they were all strangely forgettable.

if MGS2,3 or 4 where your first I understand why you will find it difficult to agree with me but if MGS1 was your first then you know better than to call Kojima a "God".

as for ZoE; I think maybe it's a matter of personal taste, I love the game and I think it was very well made and I just realized it was not directed by Kojima.

anyway, it may not be the response you had in mind but I'm not trying to change anyone's beliefs, it's just my humble opinion and I respect yours.

2016 is THAT year. I mentioned a long time ago that PlayStation consoles always start slow and ramp up the exclusives until the console is an unstoppable beast. Nothing more evidenced than this generation though, when many of Sony's owned studios were still making PS3 and Vita games in the run up to when the PS4 launched.

I'm glad next year is the year when we finally and truly get to experience more of the fruits of their labour. I'd imagine next E3 is going to be insane. How can they top this year's E3 with Shenmue, TLG and FFVII Remake? Crash Bandicoot, God of War, Sucker Punch, and Bend Sudio, maybe? I don't think Kojima's new game will be ready to show at E3, but who knows.

This year has been but the prologue to true greatness...

I know Shinkawa most likely designed the new logo, but I like that there are some similarities in the design to some of the orbital frame artwork from ZOE. Let's hope Kojima and his team can get back to the third game that they had planned some time in the future.

In what macabre world could 100% of people agree that a skull residing in some form of helmet is beautiful?

Is it beautiful in the sense that Giger's Alien was 'beautiful'? Because that was beautifully terrifying.

No-one can prove that logo to be beautiful.

If the person writing the article had sensitivity and intelligence they would know that it isn't a given that an image that, to me, suggests death is ever beautiful.

It can be in the eye of the beholder but nothing more.

Theory is VR related game

"Considering the fact that Kojima-san expressed interest in virtual reality before, the fact that the logo basically represents a headset, and the mention of the latest technology, could Kojima-san’s new game be a VR experience?"

We have no way to be sure for now, but the idea is definitely intriguing.

Thus this could be why, and would explain only a PS4/PC release.
