Final Fantasy VII (PS4) Review | High-Def Digest

HD Digest: "While I embrace the changes that the remake is bringing, it's great to have the original as readily playable as it is today, and the PS4 port is undoubtedly the best way to experience it."

It is a good port from the Steam version.

Honestly, based on FF7's visuals, I find spending this much for a PS4 port of the game to be rediculous unless you REALLY need this on PS4, or for trophies in the game......which honestly I could kind of understand if trophies are something you still care about (they just seemed to matter more on PS3, I don't even notice trophies on PS4......maybe it's just me).

I personally suggest to anyone who needs the original version of FF7 in their lives to get a digital copy of the PS1 version which is often on sale for $5. I got it for $2.50 when they sold every PS1 FF for $2.50 each, and play it on either a PSP or preferably a Vita with the OLED screen. The game looks absolutely amazing and really pops on Vita's OLED.....though really everything looks pretty damn good on that screen. The Vita scales pretty nicely to make it full screen without looking TOO stretched. And the control adjustments are nice too. Playing FF7 with analog sticks for movement and the camera is a nice touch.

wait wait wait wait. whats with the picture ? the steam version was 1920x1080 without black lines. what happend here ? also cheat that can fill up limit breaks and hp immediatly ? WTF SQUARE ?

Loktai3422d ago

Because the backgrounds in the game are pre rendered, if you want it to be wide screen you either stretch the image to fit like many on PC are doing without realizing it, or you cut the top and bottom of the image off. There is nothing on the sides to render so there is no way to widen the view.

Well square really needed a year for this ? pathetic XD milk it square milk it frickin fans did better job with this game

"despite the game showing its age" did anyone forget to tell this person it's from the late 90's?

You should score it bases on time of when it came out. Otherwise i'd be giving pong 0 out of 5 for not providing extras..

FF7 was always a 3.5/5 game for me. I never understood it's praises.

Definitely one of the golden games I've played during the psone era. I had such fond memories of this game, from accidentally stumbling across Yuffie, discovering Vincent, acquiring the W-Item, 2x cut material, breeding gold chocobo reaching Knights of Rounds, & beating the ultimate weapons.

To me personally this game is timeless classic.

Yeah. That’s the first I’ve seen it anywhere near #1.

Mario 64 is great but I wouldn’t put it over Mario World.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list is a crime.

CUnit12312351d ago

Sorry lol. I wrote the article but 5 of us voted for many different games and majority went on the list then we worked on the list. If it were just my personal top favorite we'd seen some xenoblade and star ocean as well as some others. Thanks for checking out it!

Chrono Trigger at 31 makes my heart hurt.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list at all is a crime.

The effort here is impressive. Hope it doesn’t get taken down.

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.

solideagle261d ago

ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit

I love seeing projects like this. So much passion and time.
