Don’t forget about Final Fantasy VII’s Genesis

Michibiku's Jenni Lada writes, "Everyone is abuzz about the Final Fantasy VII Remake, and rightfully so. New footage was released at the PlayStation Experience and Square Enix spoke out about what people could expect from the PlayStation 4 version of one of the most iconic JRPGs in history. But in all this talk about the game, a rather important figure has been forgotten: Genesis Rhapsodos."

He didn't die in Crisis Core so he could return. He was just badly injured by Zack. I remember he also appeared in Dirge of Cerberus in a secret ending.

EcoSos33472d ago

Yeah but I don't think he fits in this game DoC happened a few years after FF7, so putting him in this game would feel out of place.

DiscoKid3472d ago

Doesn't mean it's not possible for him to appear in-between those titles, which would be the original game. Not a big fan of him, personally.

ffs i hope he doesnt reappear in the remake...his whole story was poorly written and girlish melodramatic (the game was good though..(i love anime but his story and character was bad good like a cheap anime..doesnt fit to a hyper-game like FF VII)...Also his character undermining the importance of the 2 main protagonist (Coud ,Sephiroth)

As far as I understood the story he was in hiding for the most part of FF7's plot. I don't mind him really, just wish they change his appearance. I don't really like Gackt.

How could we ever forget about GACKT....

What about the 3 villains from advent children?

kingdomtriggers3472d ago

Oh please No! I'll even take Genesis over those fools

Swiftfox3472d ago

Unfortunately, I'm a purist when it comes to remakes and feel any sort of added content should expand on already existing elements from the original source material--which leaves Genesis out in the cold. Since this is a multi-part remake, it's also easy to speculate there will be entire chunk of game dedicated to him.

Instead, rather than shoe-horning him into the original main plot, I'd rather see the expand upon the world itself and the characters from the original game. If you really want to give a nod to the spin off games, why not make an Easter egg area below Midgar featuring the character in stasis with a unique and powerful materia there as a reward for finding it?

Again, I'm kinda a purist. =P

Yeah. That’s the first I’ve seen it anywhere near #1.

Mario 64 is great but I wouldn’t put it over Mario World.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list is a crime.

CUnit123123100d ago

Sorry lol. I wrote the article but 5 of us voted for many different games and majority went on the list then we worked on the list. If it were just my personal top favorite we'd seen some xenoblade and star ocean as well as some others. Thanks for checking out it!

Chrono Trigger at 31 makes my heart hurt.

Not having any Xenoblade Chronicles games on the list at all is a crime.

The effort here is impressive. Hope it doesn’t get taken down.

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.

solideagle309d ago

ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit

I love seeing projects like this. So much passion and time.
