Esper 2 Planned for Oculus Rift, Coatsink 'far from done with VR'

VRFocus reports on Coatsink Software confirming that Esper 2 is planned to jump from Gear VR to Oculus Rift and that the developer will continue VR work.

Oculus really need to do something to compete with Playstation VR. They spent the earlier part of this year.., boasting and telling us to expect a launch later this year.

But they have not materialised anything, remotely interesting.., let alone, the product for consumers.

sorane3488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

Uh what? Why would Oculus even care about the Morph? They are aiming much higher than that. What interesting things have Morph materialised? I watched the horrible Morph presentation this last week and all it managed to do was turn people off of VR. Oh and where's this Morph product at anyways? We don't even know when that thing is ever going to release. Many people are playing games with Occulus VR as we speak and it already has hundreds of games that support VR out today. It'll take the Morph a decade to catch up to the support that PC VR already has. Oculus is far more worried about the Vive which is much more on it's level.

How are many people playing games with Oculus VR when the consumer version hasn't even been announced?

I guess your referring to the DEV kit...

I've seen a lot of titles for VR, but right now - Playstation VR has the best stable of games. While Project Cars has Oculus support, I'm sure they'll support Playstation VR as well.

Personally.., I can't wait to play Gran Turismo Sport on Playstation VR.

Which games are you excited about for Oculus?

sorane3488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

haha psvr doesn't have anything close to the amount of amazing PC VR titles and never will. Not sure how you can even say it has the best stable of games when it has exactly zero games for vr right now. Not really sure what Project Cars has to do do with anything. That's just one of the already hundreds of PC games that support VR as we speak. I'm excited about Elite, Stalker series, Half Life 2, Alien:Isolation, Reset, Rfactor 2, Euro Truck 2, Iracing, Stranded Deep, TF2, Doom 1-3, 7 Days to Die, Rust, Portal 1&2, The Forest, Star Citizen, Ark, GTA 5, and about 1000 other PC vr titles.

xer03488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

You named a lot of old titles, not even built for VR. The only title I can see in that list, that would work is Alien Isolation. But even that is coming to Playstation VR.

I don't know about you. But VR is all about an immersive experience.

Not about sitting in a virtual living room, playing games on a virtual screen.

"Stalker series, Half Life 2,Doom 1-3"???
Haha! :D

The fact is.. a lot of the games built for VR are coming to Playstation VR, because it's an established brand. Emphasis on, 'built for VR'.

The unveil of Playstation VR was excellent.
(Read press reviews or watch youtube videos)

The last Playstation Experience wasn't as good as the first. But at least, Sony have a lot of great and original titles coming for the platform to show.

Haha - Nice try buddy.

It's hard to get excited about Oculus right now.
titles like Esper 2 don't exactly get me excited. But each to his own ;-)

sorane3488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

What? You make xer0 sense saying most those games won't work with VR.

"Not about sitting in a virtual living room, playing games on a virtual screen."

Huh????? All those games I listed have VR support as we speak and I don't mean playing on some virtual screen in a living room. Not sure why you would even think that. Just shows how little you know about PC VR.

""Stalker series, Half Life 2,Doom 1-3"???
Haha! :D"

The only one laughing is me since those 3 are better than any ps4 game I can think of.

"The fact is.. a lot of the games built for VR are coming to Playstation VR, because it's an established brand. Emphasis on, 'built for VR'."

So basically you're just moving goalposts now and saying I'm only allowed to count games that aren't out yet. Games that are out now with great VR support don't count cause of "reasons"...........

"The last Playstation Experience wasn't as good as the first. But at least, Sony have a lot of great and original titles coming for the platform to show."

You must have watched a different show that me and a lot of others watched because all the VR games they showed weren't great or original along with looking like ps1 games. Haha nice try Pal.

It's hard to get excited about Morpheous right now because ps1 looking games just don't excite me. It also just doesn't have even a fraction of support as the PC VR sets do.

xer03488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

I think I'm exhausted from laughing so hard! :))
Let's just agree to disagree.

"What? You make xer0 sense saying most those games won't work with VR. "

Enjoy playing Doom 1-3, Half Life 2 etc. in VR.
I'd appreciate it, if you told me how these games that are over a decade old, are going to offer a rich VR experience???

"It's hard to get excited about Morpheous right now because ps1 looking games just don't excite me."

Hmm.. I smell the scent of hypocrisy.

I'll enjoy playing an awesome game like Gran Turismo Sport and Robinson: The Journey on Playstation VR.

sorane3488d ago (Edited 3488d ago )

"I think I'm exhausted from laughing so hard! :))"

So am I cause everytime you write back you show how little you know about VR.

"Enjoy playing Doom 1-3, Half Life 2 etc. in VR.
I'd appreciate it, if you told me how these games that are over a decade old, are going to offer a rich VR experience???"

Well they look better than the psvr games shown at the show so you should know the answer to that already.

"Hmm.. I smell the scent of hypocrisy."

Sniffing yourself? We have these things called mods on PC. Not really surprised you don't know what they are. Probably a wiki you can read to learn about them.

"I'll enjoy playing an awesome game like Gran Turismo Sport and Robinson: The Journey on Playstation VR."

I'm glad for ya. I'll enjoy playing amazing games like Star Citizen, Reset, and the hundreds of games already out that support PC VR.

@below

Yup just as I expected you have been proven wrong time and time again so now you just rely on really bad insults since you know I'll just keep burying you with my posts. Really showing your age.......

"Sniffing yourself? We have these things called mods on PC. Not really surprised you don't know what they are. Probably a wiki you can read to learn about them. "

Wow - this is kinda getting personal.
I really feel for you fella. You seem kind of ignorant.

I've been playing games like the original Doom on PC since Day 1, so I know what mods are.

Wow. You really are 'special'.

Sorane,

Oculus have only revealed half of the 1st and 2nd party titles in development for Rift. 12 titles they haven't shown yet.. They most recently revealed Rock Band VR, which looks good. There are some grest looking games coming:

Minecraft
Adr1ft
POLLEN
Project CARS
Euro Truck Sim 2
Star Citizen
Elite Dangerous

And many more. A lot of them are new IPs, but they look excellent.

That's fine. GT7 would overshadow it anyway at it has open wheel and regular cars.

Should have been spending their time updating Squadrons with better resolution, frame rate, haptics, etc as there isn't a game like that on PS VR 2 yet.

But it's EA. They don't think.

Babadook7780d ago

I agree. It would sell better on PSVR2 right now.

Knushwood Butt780d ago (Edited 780d ago )

A wasted opportunity, but I don't buy EA / Codemasters stuff anyway. Grid Legends just came out on Plus and I haven't touched it. Why would I when I have GT7 and PSVR2?

Abnor_Mal780d ago

Not into F1 racing, but still a missed opportunity.

ApocalypseShadow780d ago

That's where opportunity presents itself that they could offer something else that other developers haven't offered yet. Yeah. There's No Man's Sky. But a space game with a story would be great. Like the old days with Colony Wars.

Abnor_Mal780d ago

Exactly, they could have possibly lured more players just from the inclusion of a vr mode.

I miss Colony wars and G-Police, Low-Fi I hope will scratch that itch when it releases. We also need a vr War/Starhawk game.

Knushwood Butt780d ago

Just watched the trailer of Low-Fi. Most definitely on my radar.
