Heavy Rain on PS4 looks absolutely amazing in first screenshots

Sony has released the first official screenshots of the PlayStation 4 version of Heavy Rain.

migh_and_highty3452d ago

Oh man I miss heavy rain so much. But will be weird to play it a second time pretty much knowing what's gonna happen, but gonna try and play in a different way than I usually do.

*exasperated sigh* More remakes, REALLY?? Enough already. For the people who say "Don't buy it then!!" Fret not, I won't be. I've beaten this game everyway possible. The funniest is not doing ANY missions to find my son. I basically bitched out on every trial but since I beat the game already I was able to keep my son*I knew where he was* but I so didn't deserve to. I was clean as a whistle by games end. I stayed addicted to triptocaine. I never fought the urge to take a hit. With the detective, I literally just got my ass whooped in every fight I had. I just toom the beating. If you haven't tried it, do this. It's fucking hilarious, especially when he drives to the mansion to dish out some "justice". It was a good time but last gen is over now. Just get it on PSNOW. No need for a remake of every damned PS3 game. Let's move on.

JWiLL5523452d ago

It's to create more interest/hype in the series/developer before the new title comes out. Same reason The Nathan Drake collection happened.

As long as they're well done, and this looks to be, there's nothing wrong with remasters like this.

I guess I'm crazy for wanting new games instead of a fresh coat of paint on games that came out fairly recently. What was I thinking. I can't wait for the PS5 to come out so they can make me buy all my PS4 games again with modest graphical improvements. Everyone knows next-gen systems are made for playing and paying for games that were released last gen. My eyes are open now guys. I see the light. Thanks!!

nix3451d ago (Edited 3451d ago )

Baba,

I think even MS remasters their famous IPs before releasing a new game. So it's not only Sony.

OT: it took me 12 hours plus to finish this game. I played for 6 + 6 hours. While i was playing this game, i felt like i was watching a 12 hour long suspense drama. I was very exhausted by the end because not only was i watching the story unfold i was also making those decisions. A normal suspense drama movie is as long as 2 hours, it can be quite intimidating. Imagine 12 long hours."

In my playthrough one of the characters died, so that was sad. I have done one ending and i stopped there. I know there are like 12 different endings, i haven't bothered to check it on YouTube. I'm happy with how my story turned out to be - bitter sweet.

Awesome game.

nunley333451d ago

These aren't remakes but HD remasters, a bit of a difference. Many missed out on Heavy Rain and Beyond and should get another look. It's a worthy release. It's a far more worthy release than getting Barbie's puppie rescue game, i guess that's better since it's a new original PS4 game (Half-joking there).

kenshiro1003451d ago

The game isn't marketed towards you. It's for people who haven't played the game at all.

You act as if there's no new games coming out or something.

Germany73451d ago (Edited 3451d ago )

Just don't buy it, it's really simple.
Quantic Dream announced the new game called Detroit, so there is no reason to cry.

MALVAD03451d ago

how miserable is your life to make you so much salty (nothing personal)

let other deside like me i will buy it why? becouse i didnt playing on ps3 so i will get it for ps4 i bought the last of us for ps3 and i boughtit for ps4 too so whats the big deal? its my money i work for my money some people dont depends on parents to get their staff so deal with it... i dont care if they remaster ps3 tittles to ps4 i hope they do it i want to see some remaster games comes to ps4 like socom confrontation i hope one of the best ps2 game socom 2 RED DEAD REDEMPTION and many others

be happy and not salty

MadMax3451d ago

With you on that one, it's becoming a frikin joke! Boils down to lazy developers whom rather rerelease an old game, than create a brand new one!

Cash grab! Now they're remastering QTE games, why? That's probably the one game that should never ever be remastered! It's just not that type of game! You already know what's gonna happen.

I'm against all these remasters, want new titles, not ones we already played a few years ago! What's the point in even getting a new console if this is the new trend? Getting sick of this shit!

generalwinter3451d ago

I do get what you're saying, remakes are kinda pointless if you already played it. But I think they are awesome for those who didn't get to try it the first time, if they hadn't rereleased God of War 1 and 2 on ps3, I would have never been able to discover it, cuz I missed playing it on ps2. As for this game, I liked it on PS3. I dont think I would get it again on ps4 unless it is really discounted - and it probably won't be. That's my big issue with remakes, they still want nearly full price. That's greedy.

One of my favourite games of all time. I got the platinum which meant I had to do all the Alternative endings so I don't think I can find the time to play it again. I missed beyond on the ps3 though so I'm so glad it is coming very soon to ps4..Can't wait to finally play it!

just_looken3451d ago

Good game but the really wanted you to see those high def faces even these screenshots.

I get it you have good faces now lets see the level.

showtimefolks3451d ago

this is a day one buy. i was hoping for a physical collection for both beyond 2 souls and heavy rain though

strike1013451d ago

should be free or 50% to 70% off if you own the PS3 version.. may an upgrade option for the digital version ?

N4GGuy243451d ago (Edited 3451d ago )

Although Heavy Rain is a great and unique experience and recommended for everyone who has not played it.

Sony is the worst offender in remakes/remasters with little to no effort but just re-releasing a game. If you want to see how remakes are done please see Halo 1 CE Anniversary or Halo 2 Anniversary where everything is built from ground up rather then just upscaling or improving textures here and there. To the point with a press of a button you can see how the old game looked.

Remember that they took out PS1/PS2 backward compatibility from the PS3? now you see why they did...

kraenk123451d ago

They took it out because there was literally a whole PS2 in the PS3 and they wanted to cut costs.

NukaCola3451d ago (Edited 3451d ago )

Although the Halo Anny games are nice, all they are is an overlay of updated visuals on the untouched engine. And the MC Collection shipped broken so no one is perfect. Outside of GOW, PS Remasters are well made. Bluepoint did an amazing job with Uncharted. If you mean straight remakes, look at Ratchet and Clank. A complete rehaul of the original and at Pixar level in its fluidity and design. Plus on $40 along side... I think Sony does well my friend.

jc123451d ago

I mean...it looks solid...but this headline is a bit of an overstatement. It appears to be roughly on par with Until Dawn, and maybe not even quite as good as that.

People need to calm down about yet another remake.

Would've liked them to release this one first. God I would never forget my first playthrough with this game. One of my best experience last gen.

timmyp533452d ago (Edited 3452d ago )

I recommend this to those who haven't tried it out. 2nd best QD game after Indigo Prophecy.

30 dollars is not a bad starting price for it either. Slowly these companies are learning.

(wait for $20-24 range)

Please stop comparing video games to movies

"Many video games catch not only great commercial attention but remarkable critical attention as well. We have seen games like Heavy Rain, The Last of Us Part II, and even entries in the Metal Gear series described as fantastic interactive experiences, even heralded in the same way as Hollywood's greatest films.

I would suggest that not only is this an unfair comparison but also a harmful one. Video games, by their very nature, are an intricately different medium and should be weighed against one another rather than another form of media," Phillip writes for GF365.

Yes, please stop. They're better than most hollywood drivel nowadays.

BLAKHOODe1631d ago

I think Hollywood films will becoming increasingly more like video games in the future, especially as the world embraces the "new normal" from the pandemic. It makes sense, as games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales showcase just how realistically we're reaching in graphical capabilities, as well as showcase extreme action sequences in spectacular ways. And as time goes by, it'll get easier and cheaper to produce such "art", as well as create new star "actors" that never age, never die, never complain, never gets involved in scandals, etc. Technology is amazing and we're only just getting a taste of what it'll eventually be.

sourOG1631d ago

No. Some games are like movies.

medman1631d ago (Edited 1631d ago )

No. For the money spent, a quality game provides far more entertainment value than a quality movie. Especially when looking at what is going on in the world, and how a studio can attempt to pilfer from consumers by charging 30 dollars for Mulan via streaming. Ridiculous. There is no comparison....games all day.

Have you played Detroit? While it’s my personal favorite, I fully understand many preferring Heavy Rain more. I’m glad you enjoyed Heavy Rain too.

bouzebbal1788d ago

def. one of my top 3 best experiences on PS3

ClayRules20121788d ago

bouzebbal

That’s awesome to hear! What’re the other 2 best experiences?

akaFullMetal1788d ago

Great game, need to get started on Detroit soon.

ClayRules20121788d ago

Glad you enjoyed the game! Yes, Detroit is a masterpiece of a game, and their best work to date “in my opinion”

ClayRules20121788d ago

Wow, 10 years...and yet, still one of the best/most emotional/thrilling gaming experiences I’ve ever had.

So grateful to Sony for believing in Quantic Dream’s vision for this game, and giving them a chance. I’ll never forget David Cage saying “We want to challenge the player, but not with the controller, but mentally, with their decisions of “How far would you go to save someone you love” Well, they broke my emotional gamer heart lol.

My teenage son refuses to play this game, because I’ve told him in little detail the emotional impact it had on me all those years ago. Maybe one day he will.

Still have my origami crane they teach you how to make when you're installing for the first time.

C-H-E-F1788d ago

it's been 10 years? wow, that was so fast, I feel like this console gen went fast as well although it hasn't. I really look forward to the PS5 this holiday season though.
