This should be fun. Wonder what flippage the world will be? ... if you know what I mean.
Personally I enjoy the Gamecube version more than the flipped wii version, so hopefully they give the option!

Ilovetheps53089d ago

Well in the trailer, Link is left handed, so I'm assuming it will be like the GameCube version.

YoungKingDoran3086d ago

thanks for the info. Didn't actually watch the trailer lol

deafdani3089d ago (Edited 3089d ago )

Left-handed Link. It's the Gamecube orientation.

jcnba283089d ago

This is one of my fav games of all time. Cannot wait to dive into this world again.

drgkngx3089d ago

The graphics look underwhelming for an HD port. Explains why Nintendo chose to give Wind Waker and HD port first.

Hope there's some gameplay tweaks, at least.

Neonridr3089d ago

I am guessing they probably didn't go back and recreate all the textures and some of the models like they did in Wind Waker HD.

This version is more on par to the regular HD remasters that we are used to where it's probably just rendered at a higher resolution and that's about it.

Regardless, this was definitely in my top 5 so I will pick it up for sure.

deafdani3089d ago

Exactly. To date, I think this is the most straight-up port from Nintendo I've seen (or, to say it in other words, the laziest).

I mean... Wind Waker HD, Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D and Star Fox 64 3D were all bloody fantastic ports, where they replaced a lot of textures, improved the colors, improved several character models and world polygons, added tons of effects, etc...

However, this Twilight Princess HD? The textures look all muddy, it doesn't seem like they improved the character models, there doesn't seem to be any extra effects added... it seems they just ported it to HD and called a day.

Anyway, it still will look fairly decent on HD, and I haven't played this game since 2006, so maybe I'll pick this one up anyway. :)

Concertoine3089d ago

I agree deafdani

And this is one game that can really benefit from that stuff, because it has aged worse than WW for sure. The villagers are hideous!

I hope they at least do some improvements like they did to WW, like speed up that awful intro.

Nevers0ft3088d ago

I wouldn't hold your breath for much other than the bare minimum. Nintendo aren't porting this internally, they've given the porting job to Tantalus Media of Australia. Whilst they've done some fairly competent ports in the past (mainly on the Saturn) most of their game catalogue is terrible shovelware... Hopefully Nintendo keeps them on a tight leash, considering these guys brought Funky Barn to the Wii U *shudder*

Why didn't they go with Straight Right to port it? They did a decent job on Mass Effect 3 and are even based in the same city as Tantalus.

Where Are The Wind Waker And Twilight Princess Switch Remasters At?

Nintendo is a weird company. It has the most illustrious legacy of any single company in the medium and seldom chooses to take advantage of that fact. Countless classics are confined to their original platforms or only available through outdated retail models or a cheeky bit of emulation.

I want a Twilight Princess HD for the Switch I would day one it right now.

GoodGuy09586d ago

This holiday would've been great and it would've calmed my hunger for tears of the kingdom. It supposedly exists but why has it taken this long I wonder. Here's hoping it still releases before totk, maybe a trailer at the game awards and a shadow drop.

Double_O_Revan586d ago

I wouldn't hope too hard. The Metroid Prime Trilogy or even just Prime 1 remaster supposedly exists and has been complete for several years now. Either Nintendo are evil bastards, or everyone claiming it's existence is full of shit. Frankly, I believe both scenarios to be true.

Immagaiden586d ago

Wii U was such a great to play every 3D Zelda game and various 2D ones as well

It'd be nice if Switch caught up to that wealth of legacy content

Inverno586d ago

Booted up WW HD through emulation on Deck. Forgot how much I like that game, it's so charming with how expressive Link is. Ninty has taken too long.

ZeekQuattro586d ago

Nintendo wants the focus on tears of the kingdom. Though with these year Zelda old rumors I question if the collection ever existed for the Switch. Much like the Prime Trilogy that evolved into a remake or remaster of just Prime 1 in recent months.

I am a huge Zelda fan and love them all, but for me Ocarina Of Time is the greatest and my second all time favourite game after Final Fantasy VII.

LoveSpuds616d ago (Edited 616d ago )

You sir, have good taste in games :)

I also love all of the Zelda games but I adore Windwaker (Specifically the HD version on WiiU) most of all. It is a close run thing with Breath of the Wild though.

Special mention to Cadence of Hyrule too, what an awesome spin off title that was!

GaboonViper615d ago

Cheers Spuds, yep i love Windwaker too, beautiful artstyle, and i loved sailing and finding all the secrets out there.

blackbeld615d ago

Agreed. For me top 3 of all time is.

1. ocarina of time
2. Final fantasy Vll
3. MGS1

GaboonViper615d ago

Brilliant top 3, would love a MGS1 remake that has been rumoured.

LoveSpuds615d ago

Yup, hard to argue with that top 3 squire, some quality games right there!

-Foxtrot617d ago

Oh gee can't imagine what Number 1 is

....

A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker etc is better than Breath of the Wild.

lockedongamer1617d ago

I respectfully disagree, but they're all great games.

porkChop617d ago

I think it really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a traditional Zelda game then OoT or WW would be better to you. But if you want a Zelda game that really leans into adventure and exploration, and if you want intelligent systems/logic, BotW would be the better game.

I enjoy both. I understand why some people aren't fond of it but for me it was a breath of fresh air that I really needed. I'd become so burnt out on unimaginative games and BotW sort of made me appreciate games again, as weird as that may sound.

godofboobees616d ago

Those are not traditional Zelda games

Crows90616d ago

Right...so let's pretend ocarina of time didnt have exploration, secret dungeons and other secrets. Complex boss mechanics and exploration rewards. At least a traditional Zelda has dungeons.

porkChop615d ago

What point are you attempting to make? At no point did I say that OoT didn't have any of that. However, the level of exploration and sense of adventure are vastly different between OoT and BotW.

Brazz616d ago

Breath of the Wild is overrated as shot, Wind waker is much better.

P_Bomb616d ago

I’m a Link to the Past guy.

MadLad616d ago

Majora's Mask still holds as my favorite to this day, despite being the black sheep of the series.

pietro1212616d ago

I love them all, but Wind Walker, Link to the Past and Minish Cap are my favorites

John_McClane615d ago

Link to the Past was so, so good! Those chickens though! 🤣
