In regards to your "misrepresenting them" comment, have you played the CoD campaign? Your female character is referred to as "him" within the first 10 minutes, and there's a whole bunch of other weird comments made that clearly suggest that the script was written with a male character in mind. I don't think it's too much to ask that if a female character is introduced into a game, the script should at least get their gender right when other characters refer to them.

If the character was a him and was referred to as a her, I really don't think anyone would sleep over it, why? because it's not a big deal, they are not real. People play as all kinds of creatures who talk and do weird things, none of this is meant to represent anything other than a game primarily constructed to be fun first and foremost.

Everything else comes second, I'm black and I never once thought "If only there were some lead black characters". Not once. Bringing social justice into gaming is like bringing cholera to a newborn baby.

Treyarch did a poor job with both its male/female protagonists in BoPs 3.

It is a total mish mash of ideas. Disappointing story, mediocre voice acting, inconsistent frame-rate and constant screen tearing are among some of the issues I have with this game.

This is the first Call of Duty where I can't bring my self to finish the story.

when females are in high ranking positions they are referred as "Sir" because of their rank or status. It would be offensive to say "ma'am" implying that they are weak. When "Sir" holds more a strong or leader status.

Funny thing is that devs and gamers in general where considered sexists because they wouldn't include female characters in games. Now that they are included they still found something to make a fuss about.

There's a female character, so it's weird if the script doesn't refer to her as "she" and if numerous events in the game are clearly intended to depict the character as a male hero. And yes, if I was playing as a guy character and NPCs referred to me as "she" and the script was clearly intended for my character to be a woman rather than a man, I'd also say that was weird, too. Everybody would. Because it would be weird.

Yeah, the game can still be very fun, but just because some aspects of it are good doesn't mean we shouldn't look at the negatives, too. I can't understand the mentality of people such as yourself who are so weirdly offended by any negative criticisms being lobbed in the direction of any big-budget games.

I've been a gamer for over 25 years now and I agree that exposing young children (male or female) to violent games CAN make them more violent - I've seen it first hand, cause their brain isn't developed yet and they can't really differentiate between fiction and reality.......they soak up everything they see and hear.
I believe this will become even more dangerous with VR going mainstream. Parents will have to be more vigilant.

I do not think it makes most people violent, but children are definetly the most sensitive group, especially American kids who live in a militaristic society where they are taught that it's ok for their country to go around the world illegaly invading countries and droning people to achieve its goals.

You can disagree all you want, I love gaming as much as anyone here, but simply dismissing this issue is irresponsible in my opinion.

I'd say it most definitely depends on the person. I agree that young children should not be consuming violent media, though there are children who are perfectly capable of telling the difference between fantasy and reality. Obviously we can't tell which children can and can't so therein lies the problem.
Personally I've been playing games that have been considered violent since I was young (younger than 10 I'd say and 31 now) and I can't stand real world violence.

The age of female empowerment is making them this way. It's simply culture and the sign of the times. Videogames are not turning the whole world upside down. Parents are. Tv, movies, themselves, life in general. Humans evolve and go through eras. Videogames violence or not things will constantly change and evolve.
