JRPG fans were treated to a trifecta of hits on the PS4 last month, from the sublime Disgaea 5 to the excellent Tales of Zestiria. On Vita, visual novel aficionados are facing a similar (albeit more spread-out) renaissance of the genre on that system, starting with August’s Amnesia: Memories. The latest game in this trend, Norn9: Var Commons, is here, and I’m pleased to report that it’s a thoroughly enjoyable — if somewhat uneven — otome/science fiction hybrid.
Aksys Games just hosted its panel at Anime Expo, and had a lot of news about upcoming games and localizations.
In the years since Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom made its English debut in 2012, otome games have enjoyed a surge of popularity worldwide. The genre went from an unknown to one that received multiple releases on various platforms each year. Sony handhelds have long been a haven for such titles, with people who own a Vita enjoying the fruits of this bevy of releases.
"Amazon has added new game deals for this weekend. Deals are Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below $30, Rise of the Tomb Raider $35, Divinity: Original Sin Enhanced Edition $32, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition $20 and lots more!"
Okay I'm going to click your link. But be warned if it's just a sale on gaming headphones I'll become physically violent.
