TeamXbox: Crazy Mouse Hands-On Preview

TeamXbox writes: "In its day, Pac-Man was the start of the maze-chomp genre, but also influenced a rash of similarly styled titles from other gamemakers. You just don't see many new ones these days.

That'll change when Ultizen Games' Crazy Mouse makes it to Xbox Live Arcade.

This new title has you guiding a mouse through a 2-D, overhead-view map, endeavoring to grab and eat more food pieces that are lying in the walkways, so you can score more than your opponent."

GameSpot: Crazy Mouse Review

GameSpot writes: "The title screen describes CrazyMouse as "The epic journey of the mouse gastronomist." For those who may not know, a gastronomist is somebody who really loves food. Unfortunately, this game lacks taste and never expands beyond guiding the titular character around a series of monotonous twisting mazes. If you've played any of the Pac-Man or Bomberman games, you'll be familiar with the top-down view and winding, grid-based levels. Instead of a yellow puck or a squat demolitions expert, you guide a poorly animated blue mouse with a milkshake strapped to its back through passages to collect pizza, ice cream, and other appealing edibles in search of the ultimate food. Unfortunately that undertaking isn't nearly as challenging the search for fun".

Wired: XBLA Round-Up: Pirate Booty, Mousing Around

Wired: "Capcom brings real-time strategy to XBLA with the pirate-themed Age of Booty, and from what I've played, it should please many. Play revolves around controlling your pirate ship -- followed by an AI companion -- around a map, as you plunder villages and try to blast away enemy ships. As you take control of villages, you start collecting resources that allow you to eventually upgrade your ship or the defenses of villages you control.

Playing alone is lots of fun, but multiplayer is where the game really shines. You can play either in 4-player split-screen or with up to seven other players online over 25 multiplayer maps. The demo gives you a 2-day timed access to multiplayer, but that should be enough to help convince you whether this is the game for you."
