XBox Can Keep Lara Croft, PlayStation Has Nathan Drake
Action/adventure game is one of the most classic genres in gaming. In fact, for the vast majority of the titles, nearly all the PC games from the 90′s were adventure games of some variation. LucasArts dominated the field with their legion of point-and-click titles, until Myst hit the market. In 1996, Eidos Interactive changed everything with Lara Croft. The original Tomb Raider sold over 7 million copies, and is considered by many to be a blueprint for all the 3-D adventure games that followed. Indiana Jones didn’t go 3-D until three years later, when he battled the Soviets in Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. Lara was the industry standard for protagonists in adventure games. She held her own in the boys club of gaming for quite some time. But all good things come to an end.
