The Sexy Costumes in Fatal Frame Should Not Have Been Censored

Apart from the mixed reactions to Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, though our reviewer Ryan Bates gave it a stellar 4.5/5 score, the game has tiptoed into the dangerous waters of censorship. A few of the game's sexier costumes for the main protagonists that were in the original Japanese release was omitted when it was localized here in the States, replaced by special outfits inspired by Zelda and Samus.

Nintendo was placed in a lose-lose situation here, as keeping the outfits might have caught the family-friendly publisher some flak. However, this latest Fatal Frame is M-rated and, especially with the sexualized images of Bayonetta, it would seem that taking out these skimpier costumes might have been an overly sensitive omission.

Its not as if censorship and Nintendo go hand in hand (hint they do).

If they hadn't taken the costumes out, they'd have been railed on by the SJW feminists and their supporters, which would have also affected them negatively.

In the end, this was one game that was going to receive negative press no matter how Nintendo went about the costumes issue.

What I want to know is; WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE TREAT THIS AS A REASON TO SKIP THE DAMN GAME?

They're a bunch of unlockable costumes.
Big whup!
It's not like the game is any less fun to play through, in their absence, for crying out loud!

People have turned this issue into a mountain when it wasn't even big enough to qualify as a mole-hill to begin with.
The complaints have gone from reasonable to out-right stupid; how many more articles do we need on this exact same subject? We've seen enough of them, ya know?
There must be an absence of things to bash Nintendo for lately, if something as ridiculous as this is getting so many recurring articles about it.XD

Who has been affected negatively by SJWs, overall? Besides us gamers, that is.

As for why people aren't happy with the censorship, it's because it's censorship. There are some people- as a creator, myself, I definitely understand- who disagree with censorship of ANY artistic work. It's not impossible for people who would find themselves offended to avoid the content.

Hell, you have to beat the game to even GET to the stuff. Meaning you have to go out of your way and then SELECT the costumes. Optional, unlockable costumes that didn't NEED censoring to begin with... why would anyone go out of their way to complain about that?

I'm glad they were removed- they're embarrassing, immature and damaging.

I mean that was sort of obvious.
There was literally nothing on this franchise, then they ported Maiden of Black Water likely because it was the easier one to translate to modern devices being a Wii U title and all. And now we are getting a remaster of the 4th title. So it stands to reason that Maiden of Black Water was successful enough to start the whole process.

A remaster of the Fatal Frame 2 remake that was on Wii would be very welcome as well. That game is great. Scared the crap out of me the first time I played it as well lol.
