Cram Gaming writes: "After spending plenty of hours in Frontier Developments' open ended and far reaching space sim Elite Dangerous and biting the bullet several times amongst some relatively minor successes, I can only conclude the game is a load of w***."

Sounds like he just wasn't any good at the game.

Games like Elite are very skill based and there's a patience barrier.

Space Sims usually have a steep learning curve.

Cernunnos3484d ago

Having played Elite since PC beta, I pretty much agree with the 6.5 score at most. The main problem is the lack of content, there really is nothing to do in this game.

S2Killinit3485d ago

Not the score i was looking for. Hope its an outlyer score.

FlexLuger3485d ago

Its certainly lower than the average score this game is getting. I seen mostly 8/10s and a few 4/5s though mostly 3/5s

speaking as somebody who plays this...I love it.But Ill warn you that its VERY steep. at first ;)

S2Killinit3485d ago

Cool i like a challenge. Thank you.

FlexLuger3485d ago (Edited 3485d ago )

You might be getting a bit more challenge than you asked for! ;)

Did I tell you about the time I ran out of fuel near a sun...turned off the game for a bit to play something else..came back and my fuelless ship was orbiting same sun? It gets pretty intense! Luckily I had some freinds to help get me out of that one but it took em 20 minuteds to get to me! lol. Sombody else could have came along and robbed me in space, and I would have been defensless! I was shitting bricks, because I had cargo! lol

EDIT: And the silence and darkness in space just makes it feel scary at those times...I was constantly looking around incase some not so freindly players happened to jump to my location by coincidence and happen to see me their...floating..like lifeless prey...with valuable stuff....that they can take without a fight. that didnt happebn...space is really big in this game...I may be understating that a bit.....

Oh...one more thing...we will soon be able to land on and explore planets in a future update. soon after we will be able to walk around on space stations...

unless you were at Sol =]

that always bugs me.

Always get a fuel scoop. Even the base fuel scooper is worth it.

Terrible review. He might like Rebel Galaxy instead which is slightly more casual.

It sounds like Elite was not for this reviewer at all. It happens.

It is a very specific type of game.

Black0ut3484d ago

Definitely isn't for everyone, that's for sure. I love it though and I still have to get back into it. Lots of stuff to do in the game.

Antifan3485d ago

From the sounds of it, he was expecting a casual experience lol.
One does not just "jump in" to a Space Sim game.

Panetery landing are coming this year. It'll push this to a 9/10. Thats whe I'll buy it.
I'm a sucker for planetery landings.

Good game. Too bad they stopped console support.

Jingsing36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

Seems a bit ridiculous that No Man's Sky was able to support all formats and this game couldn't. It didn't help that they were selling the game piece meal either. e.g. buy this expansion so you can walk on planets. I feel like the damage is done and they should probably shut the thing down.

The irony is No Man's Sky is what Elite used to be and can be played completely offline.

anast36d ago

You can still get a good 200 to 300 hours out of it on console, but I agree with everything you posted. It's really a shame because I like the art so much better than NMS.
