CD Projekt Red claims that The Witcher 3's expansions are "better than the base game"

Stan Just, producer of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt at CD Projekt RED, has recently insisted that the development team "constantly raises the bar for ourselves", and that because of this, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt's main expansions will actually be "of even better quality than the base game".

I just started the expansion and I'm already impressed... I'd love to hear Sapkowski's thoughts on the game(s).

Wild Hunt was already doing a damned fine job of capturing the spirit of his novels, but I'm getting the impression that Hearts of Stone is even 'Witcher-ier'... That said, I hope the Toussaint DLC will follow on from the main storyline - though I'm not sure that will be possible (the different endings would be difficult to account for).

Either way, I'm sure it'll be great.

Agreed. The closest quest line in the base game that comes the closest to the quality of this expansion is the Bloody Baron storyline.

I spent the first 10 hours of so of the 'expansion' playing the base game, getting myself equipment to fight that Toad!

Use that Yrden trap...that thing is a nightmare without!

Maybe if the base games story was as good as the dlc I wouldnt have traded it in after completing it :/

Fingers crossed for a "complete" version down the line because if the dlc's are that good I would buy the game again once they are all out.

The story of the base game was hardly bad...

You played many other better story-driven RPGs in the last couple of years on PS4? I think the characters and writing are some of the best I've ever experienced, especially when you consider the colloquial language they use and the majority of the team aren't English.

$15 Hearts Of stone DLC -> so far 15 hours game play -> Awesome story

$60+ Battlefield -> ~5 hour campaign -> Mediocre story line

If you're comparing the Battlefield campaign to the Witcher 3 campaign you're kinda playing BF wrong. You know that there's multiplayer on there right?
