Project Zero: The heroines in the West Redressed

Looks like Fatal Frame's censorship isn't just in unlockable costumes, but a pretty well known scene has been made more tame as well.

Okay....

How does that make the game worst in gameplay?

Reaching much.

Maybay3109d ago

You're right! It doesn't improve upon the narrative (imo). Allowing whatever originally was, just furthers the stereotyped scenario of women leads in games. Stifling creativity isn't something I agree with, though pointless tongue-in-cheek distractions only perpetuate a negative stigma that the publisher of said product (Nintendo) has to deal with.

Remember the Xenoblade X ordeal with the character named Lin (this same website published an article about it)? Nintendo does, and the media painted them as a distorted company.

Censorship is the least of this games worries.

this is good to know, i was on the fence of trying/buying this game. I don't like getting an edited version so i won't be buying this game, thanks Nintendo.

You've got your priorities scrambled if you're going to skip a horror game because the T&A is censored.

Having these costumes changed doesn't affect the quality of the game, and there are quite a few reviewers out there saying it's worth a buy.

gamer78043109d ago

It's a combination of elements surrounding this release, but the censorship of something regardless of what is censored is on principle something my I don't want to support. It's compounded by a large digital only game on a system that has very little memory.

Actually I was getting it day one.. And now i might not.. And its not even for the costumes per se as I would have never unlocked them.. But its because the stupidity of taking away an option for the people who wanted that option with no reason at all.. The character is not 17 in the US version.. And if it is they could have changed that instead (as they mentioned in the direct, a nintendo rep told they would only change the age of her).. I hate that developers keed censoring stuff.. This is just the beggining and I dont intend to support this practice.. The game is rated M ffs.. If it was E or T i could get myself to understand, but for me this is unnaceptable it would be like taking blood away from COD.. Its not necesary but at least give us the option to decide what we want.. Do I want blood on or off.. What do I want my character to wear?

Thats really mature of you. lol

OtakuDJK1NG-Rory3109d ago

So Nintendo went the effort in localizing this game.

And this is how you repay them?

Now yall know why it digital only.

gamer78043109d ago

i appreciate they did it, i'm happy about that, but if they really want a game to succeed, give it equal treatment. That goes with the media (physical copy), conent/censorship, and advertising.

I mean that was sort of obvious.
There was literally nothing on this franchise, then they ported Maiden of Black Water likely because it was the easier one to translate to modern devices being a Wii U title and all. And now we are getting a remaster of the 4th title. So it stands to reason that Maiden of Black Water was successful enough to start the whole process.

A remaster of the Fatal Frame 2 remake that was on Wii would be very welcome as well. That game is great. Scared the crap out of me the first time I played it as well lol.
