Call of Duty: Black Ops III Design Director Shows First Game Disk Playing on Retail Xbox One

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is getting close to its release on Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and PC on November 6th, and the game has moved from playable only on devkits to actual retail consoles. Design Director David Vonderhaar showcased on Twitter a “green disk,” which is one of the first disk able to work with your standard Xbox One.

Odd that he chose to show the X1 disc for this considering the PS deal. I know they are the old BO disks in that one picture, but maybe this is a hint at BO1 and 2 BC confirmed....that'd be sweet. No hate against PS at all, I love my PS too, but COD will always feel like an X1 game...to me the PS controller just doesn't feel right for this kind of game...esp the triggers, too squishy. Plus, again not talking trash, but the skill level for this kind of game is much higher on X1. During the BETA I was destroying everyone on my first day (and I started a day or two late) on PS4...then on X1 it was much more of a challenge.

^ Saying he played on ps4 and it was to easy. Typical Fanboy

Julion07153119d ago

Or jus maybe that really was his experience typical fanboy of you

Ricegum3119d ago

^ or maybe he is just being a fanboy like he said, which is obviously far more likely.

XBLSkull3118d ago

No he is definitely correct, the Xbox FPS community is much more highly skilled than the PS community. I can go on PS and destroy everyone while it is far more challenging to play Xboxers. It's just a simple truth.

tmh35933118d ago (Edited 3118d ago )

its true though most fps games xbox players are better at fps games. Destinys top players were mostly on xbox one.

it may feel odd to use ps pad because your used to xbox pad if u ask some one that started on ps it would be the xbox pad thats feels strange to play cod on....

TheUndertaker853119d ago

I've played on both and don't see a difference

ThePope3119d ago

I own both consoles and play on both. The PS controller is too wide. Great controller but it's not as comfortable to hold as the X1 controller

PistolsAtDawn3119d ago

I can definitely see your point....solid logic, but I was a PS fan before an Xbox fan...and PS controllers haven't changed that dramatically. True PS4 controller is the best DS controller to date (but I wish they'd get rid of all the gimmicky stuff that kills battery more than it helps). However....ever since the "S" controller, I've felt that Xbox had the better controller...the first one was massive and uncomfortable...but since the "s" Xbox has had a much better controller. IMO.....Esp for games like this where the trigger actually feels like a trigger.

If I only had my PS4, I'd grab it on PS4 no problem, but since I have the option, I'll be getting it on X1. Now I just wish Activision would let the Xbox version include BC BO1&2 and use Azure servers instead of the crappy Activision ones that are basically half a step above p2p. I get 3rd party deals...they are a fact of life/business...and they go all directions, but here's the kind of thing that is annoying about it. The tech is available to play BO1,2,&3 all on the best dedicated servers available....but a contract is stopping gamers/games from expanding/advancing. It sucks when parity holds back gaming.

headblackman3119d ago

I see that controller argument as the weakest claim in gaming history (no matter what controller you choose) we went from atari controllers to xb1 and ps4 controllers and played until we formed blisters on our thumbs. most gamers are multiconsole owners, so getting use to or being use to multiple console controllers is nothing.

REAL GAMERS ADAPT AND CASUALS COMPLAIN ABOUT A PARTICULAR CONTROLLER OR FEATURE.

and no! this isn't an attack or claim that this is what you personally are saying, but it just does something to me when people try to use anything remotely to that, in order to slight one console over the other.

Oh god. Not another one of these! It always makes me laugh when people say Call of Duty is more difficult on Xbox haha, my brother plays Call Of Duty on his Xbox and he consistently has games where he plays well. Dude, the last few instalments have sold far better on Sony consoles. No hate to you but to me Cod will always feel like a PS game, since, aside from MW, I've played every Call Of Duty game on Playstation consoles.

Also, in my opinion the Playstation 4 controller is more comfortable, they nailed it with the DS4, and I've always found the Xbox controllers too big, and the assymetricle thumb sticks still don't make sense to me

And please for the love of God stop lying, you don't even have a PS4. You make that blatantly obvious with every single comment you make on this site.

Anyway, really looking forward to Black Ops 3 on my PS4, and that month early DLC deal Sony struck with Activision is great news for me.

H3ADShOt33119d ago

Now this is a real fanboy... Hahaha xbox one controller too big compared to the ps4...

Ricegum3119d ago

Haha. Wow, I'm a fan boy for calling someone out and suggesting my own opinion? Lol, get out of here fanboy. I'm sorry I offended your Xbox controller...

H3ADShOt33118d ago

No the ps4 controller is the same size as the xbox one controller if not bigger. The xbone controller is not even close to how wide the ps4 controller is, the xbox one controller is just longer in height.

I'm not offended at all just laughing at your ignorance.

DrumBeat3118d ago

The PS4 controller feels great for this game. If you were talking about the Dual Shock 3 I'd completely agree.

I can't speak to the "skill" on each platform but with millions playing on all platforms you can find what ever skill level your looking for. As far as the game play goes I spent Cod2'3 then CoD4, MW1,2,3 and then BO1,2 gaming all on the Xbox 360 with the standard 360 controller which was fantastic then for CoD Ghost and AW I went to the PS4 and was gaming with standard PS4 issued controller and to me the feel and handling was same as far as game play goes. COD Ghost was my first PS4 game and from the start I had no issue, no adjustment period or learning curve to get into playing CoD on the PS4. I think the 360 controller was great and IMO the PS4 controller is as good. I gamed on the Xb360 for years before I got a PS3 and I had more than a few issues with that controller in fact I never got use to it and I know many gamers love the DS3 but I had to pick up a 3rd party controller to game on the PS3 but with the PS4 and the DS4 to me it like the XB360 controller it's the perfect controller.....IMO.

Too bad God of War isn't on PSNow. It would've slaughtered the Avengers and Aloy!!

roadkillers1045d ago

Yea, I can't find any. Not even the digital versions, Facebook has them going $400 over retail.

poppatron1045d ago

I need to cancel my subscription, there’s rarely anything I like that I don’t already have

So Avengers are fine? I thought that the game is dying.

Terrible month. Detroit and Black Ops 3 (available for a limited time) are already in the PS Plus Collection, and Detroit was also a free game on PS Plus years ago. WWE 2K Battlegrounds is terrible. Only the smaller games that were added are good additions.

PS Plus is way better than PS Now right now (quality > quantity) and has been good for a long time, and great since the PS5 released. I was tempted to subscribe to PS Now over the holidays but I just didn't trust in the quality of the service. They need to up their game because the quality of the service is deteriorating. I'm starting to wonder if they're going to ditch PS Now as we know it and basically add it as an extra tier to PS Plus because that's what they've been prioritizing.

-Ghost1185d ago (Edited 1185d ago )

Not sure why WWE 2K Battlegrounds was a highlight for this month. I browsed the games in December and it was there/played it.

SamPao1185d ago

Darksiders genesis. Thats a pretty neat addition

gamer78041184d ago (Edited 1184d ago )

The game was a massive disappointment, even playing with a friend it was terrible. But we finished it til the end. The game is so buggy and just not much fun a lot of times.

iplay1up21184d ago

Now, is not nearly as good as Game Pass, but $60 for a year? Well worth it!

gamer78041184d ago

Detroit become human is fantastic. One of the best this gen

oakshin1185d ago

Last time blop 3 was on here it came with the dlc

RgR1184d ago

Great for me.

I was looking to play darksiders genesis...it's the last one I need to play. And little nightmares is another one I wanted to try.

The rest I've already played or am not interested. Overall I think they're great additions.

iplay1up21184d ago (Edited 1184d ago )

I was disappointed with Darksiders 3. I played for a couple of hours, and deleted it. That is just me though, a lot of people liked it. Also the price is right. Hope you do like it!😁

RgR1184d ago

Yea I'm with you there. The beginning and gameplay feels so different but after a certain point I feel like it got much better.

I played it in classic mode so it would be more similar to other darksiders but man did I die a lot in the beginning due to learning how to play. Came into it fresh from darksiders 2.

SamPao1184d ago

Yeah, I am still playing frostpunk from last month...
Heard good things about little nightmares
