Just what do we really mean when we talk about “game genres,” anyway? Sure, you’ve probably seen that “fans of the genre will enjoy this” phrase in umpteen game reviews, but the truth is that the most durable game genres have walked some long, ever-evolving, and very interesting roads over the past several decades. In this weekly series, Xbox Wire’s editorial team will break down exactly what shaped your favorite genres, why they’re so timelessly awesome, and where they’re headed – while providing you with some expert advice on the past and modern classics that you should check out.
It took about five seconds for artists (and fans) to notice.
What would otherwise have been a fairly minor announcement, the news that some old Duke Nukem games were coming to an Evercade handheld, has blown up after the rapid discovery that the bundle’s promotion included a bunch of terrible machine-generated imagery.
Literally who cares. It's a picture of Duke Nukem shooting a gun on a black background to announce a tiny port to a practically unheard of handheld. Why would anybody care that it's AI generated?
Why do they need to apologize? You can’t use AI generated imagery in advertising now?
Two collections featuring six great games will be available in November 2023. Including Duke Nukem 3D and Introducing: DUKE NUKEM 1+2 REMASTERED - developed by Blaze Entertainment!
GB: "Nailing an experience's length is easier said and done, and one way or another, these games left a little to be desired on that front."
I always have a problem with games that should have been longer when lasting 8-10 hours.
Here's a question I ask all the time when ppl say that.
How many times have you replayed the story of a great game like Tlou2, GOW, Final Fantasy remake, GTA, Zelda, or any other 20 hours plus game? and usually, the answer varies between 0 and rarely 1.
So what's the point of having great 30 hours plus games if you will never replay them because of level, section, grinding dragging too long?
Disagree with Days Gone - yeah it took a while to really get going, but I appreciated it when I was done. Jumping right in at 4-5 hrs or whatever would've made the rest feel less impactful. RDR2 and Mankind Divided felt just right too, I wouldn't change them at all.
What needed less time was AC Valhalla. I was more than ready to be done with that by the time it was 2/3 over. Just too much useless stuff, and I hated the Asgard sections.
