Hydraulic Empire Review | Nerd Rock from the Sun

Nerd Rock's Trevor Coelho writes: "Enormously satisfying, enormously addictive and just plain incredible fun. It's easy to say 'if you like tower defense games, you'll like Hydraulic Empire' but the truth is, even if you don't like tower defense games, there's a good chance you'll like this one.

With small maps, many towers, frantic action, and near constant jolts of adrenaline from the time I started the game to the time I was able to stop, Hydraulic Empire is very easy to recommend to anyone who enjoys a fun game."

Hydraulic Empire is one of those attempts to put a new spin on an old genre. Just as Bloodsports.TV opted to create a MOBA-esque experience sans some of the more alienating elements, this game is attempting to give the player greater control when it comes to Tower Defence releases.

The Insane Steampunk World of Hydraulic Empire

Marcus Estrada writes: "The tower defense genre is pretty awesome, although some may find that it appears to stagnate fairly often. There's only so many ideas one can inject into the genre, right? Developer Solitude Entertainment hopes to break out of the expected tower defense niche with Hydraulic Empire. Their game, while not entirely unique, puts the focus on mob interactions. What this means is that your different deployable classes interact with each other, as well as with enemies, in distinctive ways. Here's an example of what this means: The Shifter support unit will readily sacrifice itself to shield/buff the Grunt tank unit. Of course, that's just one example of many instances set to occur during gameplay."
