From GameWatcher: "Train Valley is the latest indie train simulator that has crossed my desk, and while I’ve come to understand the joys of the simulator genre over the last several years with games like Banished and Cities: Skylines, for the longest time I didn’t quite get what made these games so popular among their fans. What I came to realize once I started playing these games is that the most compelling aspects of the game begin with deep, interconnected mechanics that force players to make meaningful choices that result in significant consequences, for good and for ill. Unfortunately, in its current state Train Valley does not offer the varied gameplay or choices I’ve come to expect from the genre, and while it’s rooted in a neat concept—building railways throughout different historical eras and locations—the game’s execution doesn’t realize the full potential of the idea."
Ever owned a train set when you were small? Owning a physical set today is quite a demanding task that you may not necessarily have room for in your home, and it can also be quite an expensive hobby. Train Valley is a train management game with a puzzle twist element as you progress through each level. A simplistic and refreshingly enjoyable game, Train Valley will keep you occupied for hours so make sure your schedule is free before setting off.
Great review, having played the game myself it needs a little more love and appreciation, glad to see it getting that here. Good job!
"Train Valley is a train management game where you need to construct railway lines connecting various train stations. It comes with two modes: sandbox and classic. In classic mode players complete challenges with specific goals e.g. collect £x amount of money and deploy x number of trains. In the sandbox mode things are a lot more freeform. New stations arrive at regular intervals and you can just play with your new shiny train set to your heart’s content. Train Valley is enjoyable and looks cute, but is also a little frustrating."
