Konami convinced PES can catch up with FIFA

Konami says it is closing the gap between its PES series and EA’s football blockbuster, FIFA.

Speaking to MCV, the publisher said it wants to be the industry leader in terms of soccer titles.

Reviews for PES 2016 are now out, with critics praising the title.

Unfortunately in my own opinion Fifa has been repetitive for the last few years where as pes since 2014-15 have caught up and have surpassed Fifa playing both new demos has conifmed for me pes is better no two matches are the same and playing 2015 the way the ai adapts to your play always brings a new challenge

As far as things go, with PES 2015, PES has passed Fifa.

Fifa 16 could be better, but from the gameplay I've seen PES looks a bit better.

Both will be good games though, as you really can't go wrong with either.

That sadly doesn't mean anything without official licensing. Most people want to play as their favourite teams and players, sure you can probably edit on PES but FIFA has all that out of the box and that's what most people want.

I agree. Where Fifa remains better is in licensing and presentation. PES has definitely gotten better on the pitch but man, the presentation is lacking. This isn't 2007!

PES has superior gameplay and an overall better football experience.

You missed the point and that isn't what I meant. If someone is a football fanatic, they want all the intricate details, accurate rosters, real players etc. This is why people will buy it every year, it isn't because it's a brand new game that's been completely overhauled, it's because it has the latest detail that accurately emulates the structure of existing leagues and teams.

It isn't the 90's anymore and the 'better' game rarely wins over the game that contains the content that people want.

Of course they can. Once upon a time the roles were reversed. What is unique about the PES / FIFA rivalry is that at the end of the day you have two competent sports titles. A complete opposite of whats going on with 2k and Live.

The PC community did it to themselves. I've been on this series since forever and the rampant piracy of the PES games was out of hand. How bad was it? Well PESEdit.com (the go to site for PC modes for PES) quit doing their annual patch. This was huge in the community. heir reason? Piracy of the game and their very own patch.

I'm sorry, but there is no excuse for the port they have released on PC. The most powerful platform should be at least on par with the next gen versions. I am a huge PES fan but I won't be buying a half assed port. I'll buy Fifa, because at least EA give us parity

I'm also convinced. I was a PES stalwart since its original conception, owning as I did many of its incarnations across various different platforms, SNES, PS, 2, 3, Gamecube, N64, etc, etc. However, upon its decline and the release of Fifa 09 I decided to convert. I have been with Fifa since that day, giving PES the odd hopeful glance but ultimately disappointed by what I saw. Things change. I've decided to pick up PES 2016 tomorrow. I have seen/heard enough good things and after playing both demos decided PES is back...thank God!

Welcomeback my friend you are doing the right thing. You do have to take few hrs in updating the roster.. transfers and kits, enblems. To make thr game feel authentic. And have every license. and againg this is not konami fauls but EA who plays dirty on getting exclusive licences. . Lucky konami Uefa and latin american bosses are not fifa and they are choosing pes as their official licence .. so PES has champions league and copa Libertadores etc.

Glad to be back. I would be lying if I said the lack of licences across the board didn't niggle me, particularly after becoming used to Fifa in my hiatus, but I'm sure I'll survive. Besides, I'm big into Italian football and (to my knowledge) that is well catered. Anyhow, its the GAMEPLAY which has brought me back...

Yeah in the serie A you can change the name and logo to make it look official. And one team name, I think is the suassoulo. In the serie B the same thing but you do need to change every teams name and logos.. soon whenever is available add the Jerseys .. and ofcource the transfers. You can use help from fichajes.com for every team and their transfers from this last year

I actually like fifa. I think the problem is the horrible multiplayer connections which pretty much ruin things if you only like mp. Technically it's a good game, but i can no longer pay 45 quid in the hope i get a good connection, which doesn't happen vast majority of the time, even when i play against people in the same street/country, with the same isp and same 100mb service. I'll give it a swerve and save up for uncharted collection instead. I thought fifa 16 demo was good.

The only thing I don't like about pes is that they don't have English licences and I like the teams to have the proper names and badges maybe someday

Or you can take a day to update manually every Premier league team name emblems and jerseys?
All you need to do is stop been lazy lol.. also need a pc, usb in wich you create a WEPES folder. Go to a PES forum find the right emblems Jerseys add them in the game and then change the name of every team and stuff you want to add like who are their coach ect. All that info is also in the same area you find their jersey and emblems. It does tale few hrs tp do the whole thing but it's easy and worthy. . Gameplay > everything else in the end .. we are playing a game after all not just seen one. editing in PES has always been part of the gameplay lol. You can change the whole game feeling looks by doing some changes it's like having a new game. Plus fee hrs of work are worthy. I bet EA pays millions for those exclusive rights and you can add them in the game in hrs for free.. that has a lot of value .

I see what you are saying, and thanks for the detail, I didn't know you could do that in PES. But even then, licenses are important for me and I expect to find them by default in the products I purchase, and FIFA delivers that.

However, FIFA lacks detail on its offline modes, EA has abandoned them in the last years, practically. I have heard PES has better modes and better gameplay (which is not really that important for me, again, I like better the menu-simulation part), but doesn't have licenses, a very decisive aspect.

So, in the end, I never pay 60 dollars for football games, and I rather wait to purchase older entries.

I will not support EA FIFA because of this kind of dirty practice.

What s the point in having all the licenses if their gameplay is very inferior? Anyways.. i dont mind doing some extra work and supporting then as a thabk you for delivering in other area what really metter to me which is gameplay.. they wherr lost for fee yesrs and gladly back on track now
