Moronic SJWs took a line out of context from a developer (or creator IDK really) which went something along the lines of "she started as a male then became female near the end, in a way, she's transgender"

What the quote meant was the character started as male but then development scrapped it and had Samus be a girl.

Similar to how Fang in FF XIII was a male at first during development then changed to female. Yet the romance between Fang and Vanille remained.

All that article did was reinforce in my mind that it's impossible to keep up with all the different terms that people want to identify themselves as.

Who really cares? Samus is an awesome character...at least in most Metroid games. It was surprising to find out you were playing a woman back in the 80's, now she's grown into a fully fleshed out character who's sexuality was never really a concern or even approached in the games.

I guess they have to push the agenda on the characters because the developers aren't concerned with it, nor is it even part of the story.

Go figure. If something isn't addressed in a story, it means people can make the character into whatever they want for their own purposes and ignore the story and characters that the developers actually present.

It's kind of like fan fiction...with the exception that they don't try to hold onto the actual premise of the original story...so in other words, bad fan fiction.

Who can keep track anymore? In this article alone I didn't even know half the terms used for how people identify themselves. It's gotten beyond stupid.

Here's a tip if a group/collective of groups wants to be accepted by the common man...cater to the stupidity of the masses, because the masses aren't going to go out of their way to try and understand complicated and robust terminology over what is a rather simple concept of male or female.

More on topic, Samus may have originally been made some mix of gender, although I think it seems more a misinterpretation of culture and language in this case, but over more recent years where it was more evident, Samus has most definitely been a female.
