Trevor writes: "With gameplay so dull the only thing that Onikira really has going for it is the art style. And that isn’t anywhere near reason enough to recommend that you buy and play this game.
"Irritating because of the onscreen prompts that mostly aren’t meant for mouse and keyboard, with gameplay that requires absolutely no skill, and thoroughly boring enemies to fight, I’d suggest that you steer clear of Onikira: Demon Killer. There are plenty of other games out there that are worth your time and money."
J Station X: For the Steam Winter Sale, German games publisher Headup Games has discounted almost every game they publish including In Between and Onikira: Demon Killer.
Chalgyr's Game Room writes:
The difference between an Early Access build and that of a full release can sometimes be astronomical. Now freed from the realm of Early Access, Onikira: Demon Killer puts players in the role of a Samurai raised by a Feudal Lord as his own son. Done so at the request of a dying man that gave his life for his lord on a mission that he never returned from, the lord kept his promise while also teaching our hero the ways of the Samurai. Growing up to become a force to be reckoned with is going to come in handy while running through this mythological Ancient Japan through the form of a fast paced 2D action side-scroller.
Onikira: Demon Killer blends together complex deep fighting mechanics usually found in traditional 3D beat-em’ups, like Ninja Gaiden or Bayonetta and merges them with classic 2D platform-game mechanics.
