Resident Evil Revelations 2 PS Vita Graphics Comparison.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 just came out on the Vita. With big name titles not coming to the Vita as often I wanted to throw my monetary support at it.

I immediately noticed that it was not up to par graphically as other titles on the system. It looks washed out, kind of like playing a PC game on it’s lowest settings. With that in mind I fired up Steam and bought it on PC to make this comparison video. There’s a difference…

I should point out that the screenshots look worse in the video. The game actually looks fine on the Vita’s small screen. Once I got used to the graphics I had no problems putting hours into it and having a fun time.

Vita is too bright, which takes away the element of surprise. which removes the whole point in RE.

I think it would have been better for them to do the HD remakes instead; since it's environments are static it should be easier to replicate.

They could have done better, I think the 3ds version of the first look way better than this.

nodim3174d ago

It would be weird if it didn't since the first game had been developed specifically for 3DS.

People disagree, but revelations 3ds looked a lot better than this, especially as far as the lighting goes.

I was going into this thinking "okay, it clearly won't look as good, but I'm sure it'll be good enough"

But then I saw the video and holy hell, the atmosphere is nonexistent. Not mentioning the pared down character models and textures which i expected, the washed out bright look and what seems to be either massive simplification or complete removal of a lot of lighting and atmospheric effects really kills the look of the game more than any textures or models could.

GNCFLYER3174d ago

Is that brightness turned all the way up?

Vita OLED screen is usually deeper colors than that.

TheFirstClassic3173d ago

Yeah it looks surprisingly washed out, especially coming from games like uncharted and killzone which destroy this graphically.

Lazy port with all the dlc to make people forgive them.. The vita is stronger than 3ds yet the original revelations had a great look to it. It was designed from the ground up on there though.. Had this game been built for vita instead of ported over, it wouldlve looked better.. Not buying this game period

It's Time For Resident Evil's Most Unique Mode to Make a Comeback

With series staple Mercenaries Mode returning to the Resident Evil 4 Remake, it’s time to remind fans of another mostly forgotten mode from the RE series. Reaching the second chapter in the 2012 3DS game Resident Evil: Revelations unlocked something called Raid Mode for players to enjoy. Unlike Mercenaries, Raid Mode is not a time-attack mode and instead operates as a more RPG-lite version of the main game. While players are expected to try and hammer down on a handful of levels in Mercenaries, Raid Mode gives players a much more expansive game type to play around with.

This mode was included in ports released on the seventh and eighth generations of consoles and was part of Resident Evil: Revelations 2, which was released in 2015. However, the Revelations duology is the only time that Raid Mode has existed in the massive Resident Evil franchise, and that should change in some future release.

I'd like to raid mode make a return in the future. When Capcom was hacked there was a as of yet announced RE game in there that I was hoping might turn into Revelations 3. There were also reports that whatever that RE game was scrapped and cancelled.
