Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation Review – Screenhall
Screenhall – So naturally you would expect a big grand finale which would put to shame all the previous action scenes. That is where lies the biggest surprise and the biggest strength of the film. The film doesn't go out out of its way in order to have a big scene where the characters have to stop the end of the world. No, the stakes are much higher because they are much closer to home, they are personal. This surprisingly low key finale is exactly what the film needed in order to still surprise its viewers. It lets the story naturally evolve. McQuarrie is known for great character studies and what better character study involves close-quarters knife fight than this?
With a new director comes a new take on the Mission: Impossible franchise, which brings the most mature, action-filled M:I film yet. Definitely the film of the summer, which you should see for the action, the story, the characters, the direction and the impeccable score.
