E3 2015 showed off two new rhythm games that will see their way to the market this coming Fall – Guitar Hero Live and Rock Band 4. Both are new installments to old franchises and both are likely to be loved by fans of this genre of gaming, but only one can come out on top as the successful rhythm game of Fall 2015. This is not to say that both games will not prevail. However, with these rhythm-style games, they obviously have to compete with one another in terms of sales and player satisfaction to be on top for this genre of gaming. So there lies the question – which game will come out on top this Fall?
CRKD and Gibson have teamed up to produce a completely new Guitar Controller for use in Rock Band, its successor Fortnite Festival, and Guitar Hero.
Many video game franchises came and went during the 2010s, meeting ends ranging from sudden and surprising to drawn out and painful. Of them, these are 10 classic video game franchises that crumbled in the 2010s.
Metal gear was probably the worst way to end a franchise that was at one time the best out there, sad how that went down. Call of duty was good and it’s crapping out hard if u ask me. Uncharted ended right
Losing Dead Space and Silent Hill really sucks. Good horror games are hard to come by
I liked Killzone 2 and 3. KZ2 amazed me with the graphics. KZ3 refined the gameplay mechanics, although a small minority of fans thought the movement wasn't heavy enough like KZ2. I thought it was perfect
If you like games that make you tap your feet to the beat, here are 10 of the best music rhythm games available on PS4.
I'm going to guess that Rock Band 4 wins in sales, but as far as review scores go... probably not gonna be much of a difference between the two. I'm looking forward to getting both and learning to master the new GH controller.
Most likely Rockband if they are TRUE to their word of letting people download all the stuff they already bought.
Rock band all the way again . Even i liked what i've seen from guitar hero's focus on live video feeds and music videos (which i dont) , i'm too invested in RB and its dlcs .
Plus many of my friends will jump again in RB as well
While I appreciate this article is trying to compare the two games, I sincerely hope no one is trying to make their purchasing decisions based on it.
Price
Guitar Hero Live with two guitars is $150. Rock Band 4 with all instruments is $250. This is true and must be what the article is referring to as a price difference. It fails to mention however there is a $100 option for GHL with one guitar, and a $130 option for RB4 with one guitar.
Compatibility
"perhaps if you just buy the game alone it would be a lot cheaper, but seeing that neither game will support backwards compatibility with previous controllers..."
This is incorrect. Rock Band 4 will support legacy controllers. Guitar Hero Live will not.
Song Backcatalog
Not sure why but the article doesn't mention that songs you've purchased in the past for Rock Band will be compatible with the new title without having to re-buy them. Old songs for Guitar Hero will not be portable.
I want both, but Guitar Hero is what I started on and will continue to buy first. In fact, it will be one of the first purchases I make for PS4 as I am picking one up this holiday most likely and have always got my music games on PlayStation.
