Title is spot on. Add Forza Horizon 3 (Still playing FH2) to the list and 2016 is going to be a great year for the Xbox One.

DaeJim3625d ago

Yup, and Microsoft still has a few studios that are working on secret games so the future is bright. (Twisted Pixel, Press Play, Decisive Games, Lift London, etc... :)

The time to play it all ... pfffft

christocolus3625d ago (Edited 3625d ago )

Exactly. Pressplay, Twisted Pixel and there's Decisive games. Lionhead and Rare have multiple teams too. I just hope MS announces a western type rpg at Gamescom. We need more of those on Xbox one and Lift is currently working on something special.

@DanzoSama

That's a pretty impressive list. Looks much better than 2015.

DanzoSAMA3625d ago

Quantum Break
Scalebound
Crackdown 3
Gears of war 4
ReCore
Sea of Thieves
Cuphead
Forza Horizon 3

Rookie_Monster3625d ago

And don't forget Backward compatible will add tons of new titles every month so we could be seeing even more new exclusives for first time Xbox gamers to experience as MS already said all their first party games will be BC. Do those counts? LoL

4Sh0w3625d ago

Yeah X1 is set for a big 2016....right now Ima enjoy the ride for 2015.

Kingthrash3603625d ago

Much better than 2015 because most games coming are actually new. So if anything it is more exciting. ..backwards compatability is nice but letting people. ..especially new to xbox people buying old games is a plus but new to xbox owner aren't buying a xbox one to buy old 360 games. BC is awsome but it's not something to count in this.

Rookie_Monster3625d ago

@Kingthrash360,

"xbox owner aren't buying a xbox one to buy old 360 games."

Why would they need to buy it again when they already have the games and can play it free on XB1? BC has too affectiveness and purpose. It attracts xbox 360 owners to buy a XB1 system simply assuring their investment and favorite x360 games will still be playable with saves, DLCs, and achievements intact.

Secondly, by making all first party games available, it will attract newcomer to the Xbox brand to experience games they never did previously and on the cheap without putting work on reremaster so a large collection will already be readily available; thus, that is like new exclusives to them. It is a win win with BC.

AngelicIceDiamond3625d ago

Quantum Break, Sea Of Thieves, Recore, Gears 4, Crackdown, Scalebound. And that's not including indies.

Plus new ip's announced at Gamescom. Looks good to me.

donthate3625d ago

KingTrash:

There is a lot quality games on Xbox 360, and having that library on the cheap is a nice addition.

I love the fact that I get a free Fallout 3 game with the Fallout 4 for instance. So it is great when a sequel comes out and you want to catch up on the older games.

There are no downsides to BC, and creates huge value to consumers if they want that.

I really like the fact that MS offers BC, and EA Access instead of telling you, EA Access isn't worth it, and then offer PS Now that is not only overpriced, but with a bad laggy experience to boot.

Let us give credit where credit is due!

As an Xbox gamer (and Playstation, and Nintendo), it is a very exciting time be on the Xbox.

Thunder_G0d_Bane3625d ago

Of course it is. Halo 5 is out this year :)

I enjoyed the hell out of the beta and that was barely a snippet of the full game.

Pogmathoin3625d ago

2016 was already going to be a great year.... too many great games would have rolled over into it anyway, keeping me busy.... I have years of backlog games anyway! :)

Zeref3625d ago

It's like every is better than the other. That's how it should be.

CaptainObvious8783625d ago

I'd glad for ms fans that MS seems to be actually supporting their installed base for the long term instead of dropping support halfway through the generation.

Is Sea of Thieves destined for a 2016 release though? I reckon it would be 2017.

But yeah, Scalebound, Crackdown and Quantum Break are beast titles. Also I really hope development on Phantom Dust gets sorted out.

DaeJim3625d ago

Yeah agree, "if" they find a new studio its likely 2017-2018 though for Phantom Dust :(

And Like I wrote in the article a 2017 release for Sea of Thieves is possible, not sure how big the game is and how far Rare is with the development.

JeffGUNZ3625d ago

Agreed Septic, but don't forget Gears of War 4. That is going to be a huge release come holiday of 2016.

raggy-rocket3625d ago

Phil indicated they're pretty far in development and I do believe it's intended for a 2016 release date

christocolus3625d ago (Edited 3625d ago )

Septic you're forgeting Recore, Gears 4,Inside, Below and maybe Forza Horizon 3. I hope we get Phantum Dust soon enough though.

DaeJim3625d ago

I wonder if it's going to be Horizon 3 or a third and new Forza IP. (Kinda hope for Rally)

LexHazard793625d ago

@dae, hoping for rallisport or PGR5.

spicelicka3625d ago (Edited 3625d ago )

Sea of thieves looks like a 2016 release from what they announced. If anything Crackdown or Scalebound (or possibly both) will get pushed to early 2017, since we know nothing about their release dates.

Having Recore and Quantum Break in first half, then Sea of thieves, Forza Horizon 3, and Gears 4 in second half is already a lot of exclusive AAA releases for xbox, which doesn't get that many games in one year.

I'm interested to see when they release Crackdown 3 and Scalebound.

the-dragons-bane3625d ago (Edited 3625d ago )

i gotta admit, the xbox one's 2016 lineup does look pretty good

DaeJim3625d ago

Best thing, lots of new IP's :)
Although PS4 has lots of new IP's incoming too! Good for the game industry!

remixx1163625d ago

My ninja preachin over here.

Black0ut3625d ago

Definitely. Looks like both consoles have a pretty ace year next year!

evilunklebud3625d ago

Agreed. Have had a ps4 for a year now... might be time to get a one in late 2015 as well.

Kribwalker3625d ago

Next years releases are spread out too it seems, maybe silence those critics

DaeJim3625d ago

Good point Rookie_Monster :p
BC will bring lots of x360 games too but I wonder if that's really a selling point for gamers? Have they not played them already on x360? I guess it depends if they come from Playstation consoles or not.

Rookie_Monster3625d ago (Edited 3625d ago )

Probably almost every BC game should be made available on the marketplace for purchase. So, let say a former PS3 owner that never experience Halo Reach or Gears 2 and 3, it is like a new exclusive to them or anyone that haven't play any of the last gen game like Red Dead Redemption if that game is made BC, it is like an exclusive to them on this new generation as it won't be available on any other current gen console unless it is being remastered.

etownone3625d ago

Imagine if all gamers just agreed that Xbox 1 is dominating this holiday season with AAA games.

Imagine that.... lol

Next Year looks especially strong too.

Hideki Kamiya wants to revive Scalebound: 'Let's do it, Phil'

Hideki Kamiya is still interested in developing Scalebound, after the PlatinumGames and Microsoft action game was cancelled back in 2017.

ZwVw114d ago

He's been begging for the past three years. That ship has long sailed. Besides, Phil's a fake. When's the last time he delivered on a game the fans asked for? Still waiting on him to greenlight KI4.

InUrFoxHole113d ago

@8bit
Yeah I mentioned that below. Although in comparison concord was a bigger failure.

MetroidFREAK21114d ago

I mean I'm all for it... I'd buy it for PS5 since Xbox is doing these multiplatform releases now

MetroidFREAK21114d ago

Well, I vastly prefer physical versions of games, and I can't do that with my Series S... sooooooo assume what you will

Lexreborn2114d ago

Scalebound was my reasoning for buying and Xbox one. Legit my biggest let down last gen

raWfodog114d ago

Same here. That was going to be the game I'd buy a Xbox One for back in the day. It'd be good if they did revive it and improve on what they had at the time.

Chocoburger114d ago

Seems odd to be asking for it now that he left Platinum Games. He'll be busy with Okami 2 for a number of years, does he expect to develop the game at Clovers studio now? Would they be picking up where they left off, or starting over again? Any of the previous team members, or just him?

I doubt Phil would fund it again, but if so, then that would be good news, also fund a new Banjo as well as Conker games while you're at it. I miss Conker!

Michiel1989114d ago

doesn't seem odd at all, he'd want work and that game even though it suffered some bad press with the cancellation and stuff is still something that people want to see (i think)

Cancelled Games That Still Upsetti My Spaghetti

As a wise man once said: what be will, be will, and sometimes games just get canceled, whether it’s due to publisher meddling, a lack of funds or the creative vision simply not panning out.

Eight Days for me

Really would have enjoyed a buddy cop game with a Lethal Weapon like tone.

helicoptergirl164d ago

The only one that really bothered me was when Sony wouldn't fund Days Gone 2. That announcement made me literally feel nauseous. I felt sick in the guts. That's the first time Sony had done something that actually physically hurt me lol. I'm still bummed that there won't be a Days Gone 2.

lucasnooker114d ago

I would have loved the getaway 3! The original is still one of my favourite PS2 titles

Report: Sea of Thieves PS5 Sales Surpass 1 Million

Sea of Thieves, the pirate-themed game from Rare, has reportedly surpassed one million copies sold on the PS5 per a new report.

Jin_Sakai309d ago (Edited 309d ago )

Yea, we’ll be seeing plenty more Xbox exclusives head to PlayStation..

just_looken308d ago (Edited 308d ago )

Just like sony tossing horizon on the switch xbox also sees the potential to double dip for sure.

I do not see xbox past next gen i think in the 2030's xbox will be just a publishing company if not next gen if you look at there console sales it would make sense to also not toss a console out next gen and just focus on software as they are making way more cash on software than hardware.

Now halo on the switch/ps5 hmmm

pwnmaster3000308d ago

Horizon the switch?

Are you talking about the Lego horizon game lol.
Totally different situation.

just_looken308d ago

@pwnmaster3000

Right because sony?

please enlighten us on how sony giving out there best recent ip to another platform is different then xbox putting there ip on other platforms.

Profchaos308d ago

Yeah it'd be crazy not to release horizon Lego on the switch those Lego games sell gangbusters on switch

DodoDojo308d ago

Xbox have been on the decline, Sony can comfortably run their businesses without relying on other systems for revenue. That's the difference.

just_looken308d ago

@DodoDojo

So there huge push to go multi-plat had nothing to do with there failing revenue?

Look at the spike after they tossed there ip's around and the pc sales of there games
https://companiesmarketcap....

Even sony knows were the cash is

@Profchaos

Oh for sure they spent $0 on making the game but will get some great check's in the mail that game is going to sell so well on that platform then they will toss it on switch 2 and or consoles got to have that double dip.

Gamingsince1981308d ago (Edited 308d ago )

Herp derp , maybe if it was actually horizon and not a lego game you might have a point but alas.

-Foxtrot308d ago

There’s no way Lego would make a game for them using one of their IPs and keep it exclusive

It was probably we either release it on the Switch or we don’t do it

If they did a Horizon spin off game for Switch with one of their own first party studios then fair enough, but it’s not. It’s Lego.

pwnmaster3000308d ago

Because it’s a Lego game and not actually one of the main game in the series. Compare to what MS is doing, it’s vastly different.

Now are they going to start releasing games to other platform. Maybe, but to the extent like MS. Who knows, but as of right now, comparing that move to what MS is doing is reaching so much.

DodoDojo308d ago

Man we have games skipping Xbox because the sales numbers aren't worth the time and the difficulties of dealing with the Series S, why in the world would Sony release their games on Xbox?

Christopher308d ago

That first sentence is a horrible argument. Makes no sense and feels like an attempt to shove Sony into this conversation at all.

I think Xbox will try their best to keep hardware around, but it won't be like it is now. I think they'll go all digital and go with a middle-line hardware and not a heavy pusher like the Series X. Something that will play games slightly better than Series X but will have a lot of built-in storage space. They'll, if possible, eat as much of that cost as possible to come under the PS6 in price by as much as possible, but the PS6 will, IMHO, be more powerful, because Sony relies on hardware to maintain their market and will keep it like that until there is no other option.

S2Killinit308d ago (Edited 308d ago )

@just_lookin
You are trying too hard to make it seem like both are doing the same thing. They are not. No buts or ifs about it.

On this topic:
I never played SOT, but its interesting that this game started off as a flop and built up to a relatively successful gaas game.

just_looken308d ago

This site is nuts

So sony tosses there games on pc gives out there ip to other companies for other platform's something they never have done in the past a ip only ps4 had in the past that is normal 0 issues.

Xbox tosses there game on a ps device we must stop the press flip the couch and go on about xbox for weeks.

Man trump needs to hire everyone here for his campaign/trials you all get him back in that chair asap.

PassNextquestion307d ago

If Microsoft wants Gamepass to succeed they need to keep putting out Xbox's. Otherwise they only other place you will see Gamepass is on PC'S, TV'S and Amazon Prime Sticks

I see what PlayStation players are doing with the long con of buying “Xbox exclusive games “ by over a million in less than 4 months to incentivize Microsoft to put all their games on day one on PlayStation and kill the Xbox console. 🤣

It’s a JOKE. don’t take personally obscured orchard crew

Tacoboto308d ago

Where they'll feel better with DualSense, load faster with the better SSD, and be accessible to more than 2x the console playerbase.

At least Hellblade 2 may come to a platform with a controller that can give its immersion the full respect it deserves. World-class tech for audio and visuals but stuck on an input that's been static since 2005...

just_looken308d ago

https://store.steampowered....

Hellblade 2 is on steam you know a computer were you can use any controller and have great audio.

Are you saying that the ps5 is the only console or device that has ever seen sound past stereo?

A ps5 is the only device to have a fast nvme ssd?

Input sense 2005? umm haptic tech has been around sense 1976
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi...

There is nothing a ds5 does that has not been done before somewere else even price gouging that was apple but now sony does that and crappy battery life man i miss ds3 battery life.

Tacoboto307d ago

You're pathetic and weird, stop with your strawman arguments and need to be antagonistic about everything.

I own the game on Steam and play it with DualSense on there but the features of DualSense are best on PS5 natively. I'm not saying that to refer to the controller speaker only, but the haptics especially *and* having those enhanced haptics wirelessly.

Obscure_Observer307d ago

Indeed. And sell even more.

Vits309d ago

Makes sense. The game sold 5 million copies on Steam and had 30 million players in 2022. So it does have a hook; what it needed to sell on PS was essentially just to be available there.

just_looken308d ago

Does it not have crossplay also? so that too helps

just_looken308d ago

For those not pissed off i mentioned cross play i looked it up and it does have it
https://www.seaofthieves.co...

So people playing for a long time on xbox/pc can join up with people that only have a ps5 that is a nice feature witch again helps with sales.

ocelot07307d ago

It's also cross progression. When it first released in 2018. I bought my self the limited edition controller that came with a code for some unique clothing. I didn't like the game back in 2018 it was bland and empty. When I bought it during a sale on Steam in 2021 I was able to continue on where I left off in 2018 with the things I unlocked as well as my dlc outfit.

Forward to 2024 when I got it on ps5. I again could continue on from pc and still access my Xbox dlc from 2018 and I then got a exclusive playstation sail set.

just_looken307d ago

@ocelot07

That is cool what a great/rare feature to bad all games do not have that.

So no wonder it is selling well if a 2018 player can grab it on his/her ps5 then continue were you left off.

SlothLordPootus308d ago

Honestly less than I would've expected based on the buzz around release, but still a great milestone.

P_Bomb308d ago

That’s a great number after only a couple months.
