Capcom Outlines Radical Plans for Street Fighter 5
Carlos writes: Now take the title with a grain of salt, because Capcom is notoriously flip-floppy when it comes to anything that can make a potential profit and to imagine Capcom without another retail upgrade is simply ludicrous.
Yet, according to this IGN article, Capcom has made it clear that for the first time in forever, a Street Fighter game will only have ONE Edition. The initial purchase you make of the upcoming Street Fighter 5 will be the ONLY purchase of Street Fighter 5 you will need, breaking the decades long tradition on constantly buying update after update or downloading an entirely new version of that game that makes your vanilla disk obsolete. According to what Capcom told Event Hubs during the SF5 panel at EVO 2015, the team is looking to make SF5 into a platform for content, rather than a stand alone game. Which means if you take Capcom’s word for all it’s worth, there will NOT be any Super SF5, Ultra SF5, SF5 Turbo or any additional upgrades you have to purchase. There will only be SF5, the sole SF experience for the remainder of the new console generation.
