Prototype's HD Biohazard Bundle is a big disappointment

Without any kind of pre-launch announcement - or indeed, a single word of warning - remasters of Prototype and its 2012 sequel crept quietly onto the Xbox One store earlier this week - almost as if neither wanted to be caught in the act. On first glance you might wonder why. On the face of it, we're in standard remaster territory: both versions output at native 1080p, boosting image quality over their sub-720p setups on PS3 and Xbox 360. However, everything else remains as you remember it: each game maintains the exact same draw distance range as the older console releases, while texture and shadow quality is identical.

The Xbox One version runs worse than it PS3 counterpart. And yes, it's entirely the publisher/developers fault.

Shoot, if these games are somehow made BC on XB1, it would be the definitive version compared to this mess. That is why Activision is one of the worst when it comes to stunts like this. This HD collection framerate inexcusable.

I do not see the reason behind the remaster in general.

I am sure there was zero demand for this on the current gen consoles.

These games were not very good to start with. The framerate though for X1 is ridiculously low. This is a horrible remaster if you can even call it tat.

I think that with this quality of remaster, you're better off playing it on PC (if you have a decent rig) or just picking up a used copy of the games on the last-gen hardware. It's really not worth buying new if the developers/publishers can't be bothered to optimize their old games.

To make things worse, I don't think people were that excited for the Prototype series in the first place, and this remaster is only making things worse. I think we can say that the series is officially dead after this.

Nope surprise surprise PC version was shit too. I own it. It suffers from a memory leak that makes the game grind to single digit frames after a couple hours of playtime. I took as a sign from God and uninstalled it.

Simply put, Activision is just up to their old tricks again. They also re-released Deadpool on PC for $40. Here most of us thought Acti lost the license like the Bond IP. Nope, they were plainly salty no one was paying an obscene amount for such mediocre output and yanked it. Only Activision has the cajones to sell a 3 year old game alongside the film when it drops next Feb. It'd be hilarious if they start advertising it again and remaster it for PS4/XB1

I know some will disagree, it doesn't matter what anyone says these days to be honest, but Prototype was one of the worst games i've ever had the misfortunes in playing, awful game, almost as bad as Resident Evil 5

I only played the second Prototype and I was on the verge of completely hating it. It's such a sloppy, poorly put together game with a SEVERE lack of polish

I didn't bother with the sequel, Prototype was REALLY sloppy, it looked like a PS2 game, some good ideas I liked the wall running but that was about it

I remember when the first came out near to Infamous and people were claiming it was the better game. I know personal preference is entirely subjective but the quality gap was huge.

Same thing happened when Infamous 2 and Prototype 2 (which was better) were coming out.

The quality gap is huge, and whilst I wouldn't say I hated the first Prototype, it wasn't a great game. It had some okay mechanics, ripped from the Hulk game, but beyond that it was rather uninspired. Bad hud, boring protagonist, boring monsters, odd control schemes.

@Pintheshadows Prototype 1 was most definitely the better game of the ''fight'' between Prototype and Infamous. I'm really not sure where you're getting your complaints about the game in general from, and it's not like Infamous had epic moments between enemies. The hud, controls and even protagonist was better in the first game.

Hell, even the protagonist was more interesting than Cole.

Now if you had said Protoype 2, then yes your complaints would've been valid, because that was most definitely a poor sequel between that and Infamous 2.

Not even close. The story in infamous as well as the gameplay was miles beyond what prototype did. I purchased both and I was pissed because prototype was pretty bad. This remake is a shameful cash grab as well as an insult to all gamers. Activision sucks as a company!
