Patrick Waring at GameCloud Australia writes:
"It’s that time of year again folks – E3! The trailers, the reveals, the snafus and on-stage slip-ups! Developers and publishers are stepping into the view of millions to deliver news that could either make or break the next year for them. It’s a pretty exciting time for gamers, and I’m the most excited of all, kicking off this year’s Gamecloud coverage for E3 2015 with Bethesda’s first ever stand-alone E3 press conference. While I’m not particularly a fan of Bethesda, I am somewhat obsessed with (bordering on addicted to) Fallout. So when Bethesda announced their conference, and with the recent teaser reveal of Fallout 4, I was naturally all over that shit. I’m pleased to say that, as far as E3 presentations go, Bethesda absolutely nailed it, launching the Hype Train from the station at terminal velocity while snapping off the brakes."
As part of its plans to cut 1,900 jobs, Microsoft has reportedly shut down operations at Bethesda France, letting go roughly 15 people
Bethesda France was made up of roughly 15 people... they couldn't of being doing much
Bethesda France mainly did publishing and marketing within the region
Bethesda France focused on publishing and marketing in the region. And 15 people lost their jobs as part of the closure.
I wonder if this is part of Microsoft's strategy to abandoned physical media or possibly gamepass advertising makes their roles redundant you don't need to market a game as hard when the majority of players get the game as part of a sub which already promoted upcoming games
Tbh Microsoft I think Bethesda being 3rd party same with Activision would probably more competitive than thus scenario imo
The recently purchased Activision French offices might take over all the licensing and marketing for Microsoft in France from now on.
Bethesda will do as Bethesda does, tormenting us with talk of a playable build of TES 6 on the 30-year anniversary of The Elder Scrolls series.
Playable builds is always good to know sounds like they've started full production. Still BR awhile but good to know development is goin smooth.
I lost a lot of enthusiasm for Elder Scrolls VI after playing Starfield. It was interesting, but it was still a massive disappointment for me. Elder Scrolls is different from Starfield in many ways, but I can’t bring myself to trust Bethesda with anything anymore.
Chris Avellone expands on his earlier claims that Fallout New Vegas dev Obsidian pitched Bethesda ideas for Elder Scrolls spinoffs.
Really Bethesda? Come on
We could have gotten to explore more of the regions or revisit old ones with another developer making them. Would have shortened the time between releases of the main games.
The issue here was Bethesda was butthurt that obsidian managed to develop a better fallout game at the time (new vegas) than theirs (fo3) so they didn't allow it.
It's funny how they're both owned by Microsoft now. They should be able to work together now.
