CGM got a very extended hands-on look at Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and it looks like BioWare has made good use of the last ten years.

It looks awful. RIP Bioware.

jznrpg50m ago(Edited 49m ago)

Graphically it could look better as I’m not a big fan of the WoW color palette but the gameplay and rpg elements look good. The graphics are decent enough that I can look past them if the gameplay makes up for it. In no way do I think it looks awful just not my kind of art style

SimpleSlave17m ago

Looks fine to me. Not super Current Gen graphically, but that's fine. Well, except for that hair physics. That's actually pretty current gen. But as long as it has a good main story, plenty of choices for the player to make and it's not bloated with crappy fetch quests like the third one, this should be good to go.

Concord Dev Could Close After Director of PS5, PC Disaster Steps Down

The silence following Sony's removal of Concord from sale could never last, and it appears there has been some movement at the embattled Firewalk Studios. According to multiple Kotaku sources, the developers feel like they are stuck in limbo, and last week, director Ryan Ellis told staff he would be stepping down as director and moving into a support role.

Colin Moriarty: “I spoke extensively with someone who worked on Concord, and it's so much worse than you think.”

“It was internally referred to as "The Future of PlayStation" with Star Wars-like potential, and a dev culture of "toxic positivity" halted any negative feedback.”

“Making it cost $400m.“

Somebody needs the axe.

Christopher2h ago

Pretty much what Laura Fryer said about the internal culture of the team. Obviously they squashed doubt and negative feedback to just keep blindly going forward.

Jin_Sakai1h ago

I’d like to know who at Sony considered Concord the future of PlayStation. That person needs the axe.

absolutely this. she already sounded on point in the video, and this reiterates her knowledge about these things

Hermen Hulst is the one who should get fired. This guy is destroying the reputation of Playstation.

Christopher2h ago

He literally just took over Jim's job and has axed half of what Jim was trying to push. The problem is it's going to take him time to get out of the position Jim put them in. I wouldn't fire him when he's in the middle of trying to fix the issues. Fire him if he's not able to get things back on track after a year or two. Nothing gets done in less time nowadays.

Lionsguard2h ago

@Christopher Jim didn't buy Firewalk though, Herman Hulst did, it was his baby. I think Herman needs to go but I doubt it's come to that, however Herman is definitely walking on .00000001 mm of thin ice right now. If he breathes wrong he's going to get dunked by Sony Japan. In fact, so is Bungie which is why Marathon was delayed. Fairgame$ is probably also sweating hard. If Marathon fails, Sony is going to take complete control of Bungie and if they really can't right the ship, 200-400 million is nothing compared to the fact that they'll essentially have gained nothing from the 3.6 BILLION they paid for Bungie to be the head of their GaaS games.

Cacabunga2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Totally!!
He should be jailed for his incompetence..
Instead of giving some 1st party PS5 only games he decides to bring Zero Dawn.. a total nonsense.
This gen so far i didn’t play PS5 much except God of War and Horizon, 2 cross gen games..

@Chris
Hulst was head of worldwide studios, taking Yoshida’s place.. you can directly tell we changed dimension with this moron

PitbullMonster1h ago

@Christopher
Hulst is the head of Playstation Studios since November 2019. Firewalk Studio worked under his management.

Christopher1h ago

@Cacabunga

1. Jim Ryan left in March of this year. 6 months ago.
2. Herman Hulst became CEO in June. 3 months ago.
3. Herman Hulst has already shelved half of the GaaS plans.
4. Herman Hulst is the one who pulled Concord so early.
5. I don't see where Herman 'bought Firewalk'. I see only the usual PR stuff, but Jim Ryan definitely made that choice as CEO and PlayStation bought the studio.
6. I'm not sure I can truly have a legit argument with someone who thinks a CEO should be jailed for not committing any crimes.

Jim Ryan's already out and there was another higher up lady axed earlier in the year.

Maybe those were the right heads to go. Or maybe Herman Hulst is the problem.

Horizon multiplayer hasn't been canned as far as we know. There's the unnecessary remaster that's all but announced. There's the Netflix series that may be cancelled because of its showrunner. There's the Lego game coming and the VR2 launch title from the franchise.

He's the co-CEO and what's one of the only PS exclusives announced but yet to release? None other than DS2 that's running on his former studio's engine.

He seems to be too clouded by Guerrilla and their projects to be an effective (co)leader for PS Studios.

outsider16242h ago

How on earth!!?? No way this game cost $400M.

Fishy Fingers2h ago

Poor old Jim, 30 years at Sony, resided over some of PS's most profitable era, now the scapegoat.

Seems like a logical conclusion when a $400 million project fails to produce a return.

Don't think I've seen a live service fail this hard lol. Even the most failed ones made decent or good money. This one was AAA budget and....made absolutely zero dollars back and shut down very quick.

Gamings-Last-Legend2h ago

Let this be a lesson to you greedy developers. STOP WITH THE GaaS ALREADY!!!!

RhinoGamer881h ago

The axe must fall on the Sony Playstation leadership who managed this fiasco.
