I'm sure FF15 is also great but that has nothing to do with the FF7 remake. Did you see the trailer? It looked amazing, and I'm sure they're putting everything they got into making the FF7 remake the highest quality.

To be honest, I think they would of made a FF7 remake last gen for PS3 and maybe they planned to, remember that FF7 tech demo? but I think the PS3 was kind of on shaky grounds for a lot of that generation as the Wii was dominating. The PS4 is on much better position than the PS3 was, so it's more worth it now.

FallenAngel19843251d ago

PS3 sold better in Japan than PS4 did.

SoulMikeY3251d ago

Yes, but everyone should know where more gamers exist....

DarkOcelet3251d ago

And Tetsuya Nomura on the helm. Maybe his real dark vision for a mature Final Fantasy game will be in the Remake.

I cant believe this is happening.

AsheXII3251d ago

Nomura fucked up Advent Children with his emo crap, cant wait for him to fuck up FFVII too.

Summons753251d ago

@AsheXII

Cloud was emo in the game, that didn't start with Advent Children. Take off the rose tinted glasses because everything that was intended for the original game that maybe got lost in translation or deluded due to technology will be back in full force and rip them off. Hopefully they make some changes to the characters to make them more interesting and fix all the faults with the story. But this is going to be interesting to see what the gameplay will be like.

Irishguy953251d ago

Summons cloud was NOT an emo, he was crazy sure, but he was very cheerful for 98% of the game. The other 2% he was rightfully sad. However he was not emo in the slightest.

Magicite3251d ago

I think FF10 was the only FF game to sell close to what FF7 did (11m+).

Godmars2903251d ago

Or, when they said the original comment, where they just talking out of their @$$? Much in the same way they showed the "original" FF7 PS4 tech demo, apparently let the rumor that it was a full game run wild, then backed down with "It would take us forty years to make" comment.

Hell, for all we know this could take twice as long as its taking FF15 to actually come out.

CoyoteHunter3251d ago

Haha that too Godmars290. We could speculate till the cows come home. But in any case I don't care because... Final Fantasy VII Remake!!! :P

NoctisPendragon3251d ago (Edited 3251d ago )

I think they did , there is no way they would reveal FF VII remake so early if they didn't trust 100% FF XV .

Elda3251d ago (Edited 3251d ago )

We won't see this game till 2018-2019 or possibly 10 years(FF-XV) knowing S-E track record.(edit)..it's funny I'm getting disagree's because the fanitics want it to come out sooner knowing FF-XV & KH3 has to debut first 2016-2017,then FF-VII after 2018 or beyond.

iamtehpwn3251d ago

Considering that they most likely will be using Final Fantasy XV's Luminous Engine, we most likely won't be waiting much longer than 2017 for this game, about a 2 year wait which isn't bad at all. The tech is already established, and that's the longest part of developing the game.

Elda3251d ago

Doubt it...wishful thinking..3 or 4 years from now.

NoctisPendragon3251d ago

Some rumors are talking about UE4 :( .

I really hope they use Luminous Engine .

Bob Dole3251d ago

^^
Seems silly to use UE when they've got their own engine.

KwietStorm_BLM3251d ago

Oh my god 2 disagrees the fanatics are going wild.....

Pennywise1383251d ago

I think this remake actually makes me more excited for FF15. Now I can have both a new school and old school style final fantasy.

Aloren3251d ago

Not necessarily. It's a remake, not a remaster. Gameplay may change more than we think; after all, not everyone wants a game that plays like 20 years ago. Same with shenmue 3. If they want to broaden their audience, they may need to alter the gameplay a bit.

raWfodog3251d ago

Yeah I don't think we're going to get the same turn-based battle system where everyone stands in a line across from each other going back and forth with their attacks :) I can see a more dynamic, fluid battle system though similar to (but not exactly like) FFXV.

Lng1010103251d ago

Why not? I have no problem with turn-based RPGs. And with all the turn-based JRPGs coming out soon, seems like I'm not the only one.

If they want to broaden their audience, they shouldn't be remaking a game that's almost 20 years old with a plot twist everybody already knows.

Aloren3251d ago

Hmmm ? I have no problem with turn-based RPGs either. "Change the gameplay a bit" doesn't mean make it a real time at all cost or whatever. Turnbased combat is ok and still used a lot these days, I don't see that as being speficically "old school".

However lots of other stuff in gaming didn't really age well, whether its the way games control, the UI and how you use it in game (HUD, map, inventory), the amount of grinding, fast travel, the way the games "helps you", the level design...I'm just not sure the game will feel "old school" at all (but then again, "turn based" never meant "old school" to me, if it does to you then yeah, I guess you can say it will probably be old school...)

The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.

Hofstaderman4d ago

Two words, one accessory....Safety Bit

MeteorPanda4d ago

Needing an accessory to keep a.i from dying and only one of them isnt great.

Original Final Fantasy 7 - Is it Worth Playing in 2024?

Final Fantasy 7 has come back under the spotlight thanks to the release of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, but is it worth replaying the original?

ravens5231d ago

Got to Zacks part in 7 Rebirth. Said f it. Finishing my game in 7 og. Just got to part 2 yesterday. I also got Crisis Core... So it'll be a while before I'm back to Rebirth. I just keep thinking about it too smh, want to get back to playing it. Not till I know Zacks story though. I beat 7 og sooooooo long ago, it's crazy going through it again and remembering things.

MrNinosan31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

Got to Zacks part in Rebirth?
You mean you started the game and turned it off?
The game starts with Zack...

ravens5231d ago

... Really 🤓 lol. His second part, I've played for 80hrs lmao. <---- PS5 Run time, probably not all game time. You guys know how it goes.

VIK212131d ago (Edited 31d ago )

Did you not ever play the OG FF7? After you recruit Vincent, later in the game, disc 3, return to that basement and look at the pod, there's a whole Zack story that'll trigger as a memory.... it's well hidden in the game and a lot of things regarding Zack are cleared up. FF7 Crisis Core is basically an extend feature of that hidden flashback... It took me years to discover it back then lol

MrNinosan31d ago

@ravens52
80 hours in Rebirth by doing everything, and you should've reached Zacks story about 5 times 🤣

ravens5230d ago

Ye I kno that's y I said not all gameplay time. But also I am very anal when it comes to exploring.

ravens5230d ago

Not to mention fighting Titan at his full strength. Hours spent trying still haven't succeeded. Found all 3 ruins but I'ma masochist when it comes to games.

Barlos31d ago

Very much so. Graphically it's dated but the story and the gameplay haven't aged a day. It's still one of my all time favourite RPGs and for me is better than Remake in some ways.

Barlos31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

It always takes me back to Christmas 1997, I got it as a gift and I was blown away when I played it. I couldn't believe games could look that good. The combination of pre rendered backgrounds and FMV really made it stand out. It definitely still has a certain charm that modern games can't replicate.

I can't imagine people will still be talking about Remake and Rebirth in 27 years.

Tapani30d ago

Fully agreed. To me the atmosphere, pacing, gameplay and music are all better than in the remake.

Rebel_Scum31d ago

Yes, play this, skip remake, start rebirth for new players.

I_am_Batman31d ago

Skip Remake? That's terrible advice.

leahcim31d ago

Remake is so amazing, pure FFVII Love, play it on PS5 please! aww the graphics the battles, the music... a dream come true.

Rebel_Scum31d ago (Edited 31d ago )

I disagree Batman
