The Final Fantasy Info [Rumor]

Final Fantasy VII will be getting a "new" version of the classic game from the massive franchise and it will be exclusive (for now at least) to the PLAYSTATION 3. It is unclear whether a new version will be a simple remake or an extension to the original like Crisis Core, and if it will be a Blu-ray release, or on the PSN.

In a few years time, Ps3 games will start redefining the gaming industry.

Maybe Microsoft had to pay Sony for it to be on XBLA. But I don't see how it can fit with XBLA's size limit since FFVII was a 4 CD game. But I don't believe it until Squeenix announces it.

I don't see the PS1 game coming out on XBL a few reasons:

[1] The PS3 already emulates PS1 games, so Square wouldn't have to do much to make the game work on the PS3, whereas on XBL they would have to rework the ENTIRE coding or MS would have to make a PS1 emulator (which would be illegal for them to do)

[2] XBL has a file size limit, and FF7 is 2.8GB in size almost (although this could be reduced by removing duplicate textures but not much). PSN has no limit.

[3] I'm pretty sure that Sony owns FF7, as in they published it so they own the rights to it (I don't know how that works, but that's what I heard). And if they own it, I seriously doubt that they would knowingly hand over such a game for any amount of money.

So overall I call bullshit on ths story, all these are predictions (although it's likely that a remake and more likely that a sequel to FF7 is coming).

SE show clear demand for the western market and western dollar, all the rumours and speculation show a clear demand for a remake, SE have a engine at there disposal, good chance for a "low" production cost and high profit. Something does not make sense hear. If they are going to port the original ff7 on the psn and xbl, then why would they spend their resources in developing a remake of the ps1 version exclusive to the ps3. And another thing, If sony is the publisher of ff7, how on earth is it going to appear on xbl. Unless sony and square have come to an agreement. Maybe they are giving us something much better like a sequel to ff7, rather then a straight port.

Square wouldn't have to port it to the PSN since the PS3 already has PS1 emulation in it. They would have to port it to XBL since it doesn't have the emulation software. I would guess they would have to rewrite some of the code to make it work and compress it to fit the size limit. That is, of course, if Sony doesn't still own the rights to the game.

I hope its a remake with updated graphics and better translation. I am hoping it stays exclusive to ps3 because it will be a true next generation game. If it goes multiplatform that will be the most terrible thing that can ever happen in the history of gaming. They have been using the playstation brand since the ps1 days, but why isn't there a Squeenix game out on the ps3 yet? FFVII took 3 CD's, roughly 2,100 MB worth of data... N64 cartridges could hold 128MB of data, I believe [May be mistaken on that]

Let's not forget how Eidos managed to botch the PC version of FFVII. Yes, it can be ported to pc and xbox 360, but if they're using the same template that they used for the PC, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's equal.

I'd say Sony know the percieved value of FFVII and how a remake of an existing game in the franchise will be a lot bigger than a new game in the series, which is untested.

If that deal was true, I'd say this is the only thing they'd break it for because even a remake of Final Fantasy VII as an exclusive would shift more consoles than Final Fantasy XIII exclusive. Square knows it, Sony knows it and Microsoft damn well better know it.

I was looking at the title for DKΣ3713, and I've been trying to work out what it means.

My personal opinion is (and hear me out on this), each letter or number represents a game by Square Enix. You have:

D - Dissidia coming to PSP
K - Kingdom Hearts coming to DS and PSP (maybe a KH3 announcement)
Sigma - Sigma Harmonix for the DS
3 - 3rd Birthday? - aka "Parasite Eve 3"
7 - Advent Children Complete (maybe a remake?)
13 - Final Fantasy XIII

I don't know if this is old or has been mentioned before, but it makes sense. Maybe the Square's big announcement is hidden in the title? What do you think? I know KH3 and FF7 remake/sequel are speculation but it makes sense (to me at least)

one of the only people left who has never played FF7. I see it as the game that went from the 2D of the NES/SNES era to 3D for the PSX era. Much like mario going to 3D on N64.

Yes it is different but looking back on it, would it be as epic now as it was then? It is a cool game for nostalgia. I have contemplated picking it up but something about the whole "final fantasy" universe didnt appeal to me like phantasy star did. I did like the ones on the nes and snes and have FFX on ps2.

If it was to be remade then I am betting it would get a fresh coat of paint like konami did with the GC release of MGS twin snakes. The story wont change (much) but graphically it would be updated without compromising the look and integrity of the original.

All the hype surrounding this game being remade could lead to problems from the fans not getting what they are expecting. Meaning square could capitalize on the popularity of the game with only the minor updates instead of a full blown expensive reinventing of the wheel.

To answer your question: Yes. The game is immortal.

Second thing: I understand where you're coming from. To me, Twin Snakes was very, very different than the ps title. The voice acting, music, and cutscenes were different. I mean the cutscenes were bada$$, but I liked the original music and voice acting. It added real emotion; twin snakes was good, but not as spectacular. I'm hoping FFVII doesn't go down the same raod. I deserves better. I mean it..

This version of FF had such a great story, you cannot even imagine it unless you've played it. I am playing it AGAIN for my second time, and I am spell-bound. Why? ...You have to play it to understand (again). The graphics are hillarious, but the emote is there, with the MIDI music score and the subtle motions (graphics) of the characters at the right moment. It IS unique and wonderful. Not to mention the great humor that is there.

They made so much the right way in this FF version. I just love it to bits as I play it. Better gfx or not, as in a remake, I have hard time to find a better FF game. FF X was great too. First FF game on PSX was VII, first FF game on PS2 was FF X...first FF game on PS3/XB360 will be XIII...but I don't think it will sell so well to the XB360 crowd. MY PERSONAL prediction.

I understand why SE does it though. They made the same thing with NES and PSX? Now they are just more weary about on which platform it will sell the most. NES/N64 vs PSX was a different story, somehow. No cross platform versions there.
