It seems that DirectX 10 just launched recently (late 2006 with the release of Windows Vista), but at Seattle-based Gamefest 2008 on Tuesday, Microsoft was touting the latest addition to its API suite.
Microsoft said DX11 will introduce new shader technology "that lays the groundwork for the GPU to be used for more than just 3D graphics, so that developers can take advantage of the graphics card as a parallel processor."
But perhaps most importantly to consumers, Microsoft said that DX11 will be compatible with DX10 and DX10.1 hardware (as well as new DX11 hardware), so gamers won't have to toss current hardware to play newer games.

Soooooo basically Dx10 was a complete waste of everyone's time and energy. Cheers Microsoft are you running out of feet to shoot ?
If this is true.. I can see this damage Microsoft in some unrecoverable ways. What I speak of could happen gradually, at a variable rate.
Edit: I thought about this for a moment.. they siding with Nvidia in the chip wars?
I am a bit out of the loop, since Nvidia, Ati/AMD, Intel keep releasing new and rereleasing old stuff 27/7/12/365
Apple's Open-Gl (in PS3 too mind you) that much better then DX10 u make DX11 already?
poor DX10 didnt even have time to learn to crawl befor they shot it in the head.....
So when's this supposed to come out? And will they update it into Vista or are they going to be little girls about it and make it a Windows 7 exclusive feature...
Give it up already. DX10 was a complete failure, and you're just trying to make up for lost ground. If you want to make gamers happy, bring this to windows xp.
