Denis Murphy writes- I never really got into puzzle games. Aside from a classic like Tetris, which itself I find a little boring now (I know, I suck), I've always avoided them, especially when it comes to the ones on Facebook. Whether it's Candy Crush or Bejeweled or whatever, I just don't have the time, attention or interest in them. But sometimes games pop up on this blog that pushes me to try genres I otherwise wouldn't have gotten into.
VGChartz's Craig Snow: "Puzzler retail releases are quite rare on consoles, with perhaps the most well-known in recent years being Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, so it's a genre where the nominations are often dominated by the handheld arena or from surprise indie hits. This year is no different in that respect - three of the nominees below are handheld-only titles, and the other two are downloadable indie titles, and we fully expect that at least one of them will be unfamiliar to the majority of our readers. Hopefully this award will give all of the nominees listed below a little bit more exposure; they certainly deserve it."
Dealspwn: "Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition is a sensational 3DS double pack, but can get a little tough every once in a while. You can now unlock a free helper monster with this new in-game voucher code."
"Presumably the result of Nintendo’s recent forays into the world of mobile gaming, Puzzle & Dragons Z + Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros. Edition is a neat little bundle of two different takes on the very popular Puzzle & Dragons mobile franchise. Each seems to have the ultimate purpose of trying to better appeal to the traditional gaming audience and to help shake off the stigma that the franchise carries thanks to its micro-transaction laden origins. Thankfully one of the two games in this package does manage to succeed in that admirable goal, and much to my surprise it wasn’t the one centered around everyone’s favourite plumber." - Matt Broitman, HBHUD
