Mad Max: Fury Road is tracking for a $40 million opening weekend, according to industry analysts.
Max is facing stiff competition from Pitch Perfect 2, which is poised to debut at equal numbers. Add to that the restrictive R rating and the fact that Avengers: Age of Ultron is still poaching much of the film’s key demographic, and you can see this weekend as a uphill battle.
