AMD to release new GPUs this quarter with HBM tech

"forthcoming GPUs will be the first AMD GPUs to support High Bandwidth Memory. AMD’s GPU roadmap coyly labels this as a 2016 technology, but in fact it is coming to GPUs in 2015"

Love to see what their best single GPU for 4k gaming is. Hopefully they announce something official very soon.

I'm looking forward to seeing what (if any) of the range I can stick in my existing crossfire setup. I'm not quite ready for a complete upgrade, but if I can keep what I have and just layer in some extra juice then I will.

^not sure which, if any, are rebrands of Hawaii gpu's...

there were some leaked benches of a rumored to be R9 390x a month or so ago...with something like 8.x Tflops, which is over 4x the most powerful current console...with the rumors stating it would hit this summer at around $500...

if thats accurate, that should give at least a rough estimate of the costs for the new higher end stuff...but its unlikely any of the truly 'new' gpus will CF with any existing hardware...so, again, we'll just have to see if the 380x is a 290x rebrand of some sort...

and i'm with you...as GCN cards apparently fully support all 3 tiers of DX12 implementation...meaning, they're already fairly optimised for DX12's improvements (thank mantle for that, most likely)...that in itself could make the need to upgrade even less relevent...I'm fine with 1080 at high frames for the time being...with the current consoles, and this is not a dig, there is very little incentive for any devs to really ring out super powerful stuff...unless chasing 4k or something...

@Kleptic I do chase 4k :)

My rig crunches through games well enough, but my issue is that the 290 series do not support HDMI 2.0, so if I want to play on my TV I'm stuck at 4k30hz. Annoying problem.

A displayport to HDMI 2.0 adapter is due this quarter, but if a 290 rebrand comes first then I'll just swap out 1 card and be happy. If it turns out that the new new beast of a card will crossfire with a 295x then that's even better, but yeah it is pretty unlikely. AMD do support some odd crossfire configurations though.

8-Tflops GPU would be killer if the pricing is low. 8-Tflops GPUs could theoretically Render PC games of this generation at 4k 60 fps, if the recommended specs stays at a GTX-780/R9-290. That also reminds me, the PC community should let game developers know the recommended requirements shouldn't exceed a 780 or 290 ASAP.....those GPUs aren't even being taken advantage and here we are with Square Enix using 4 titan Xs on us.
