Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 to Run at 1080p/60fps on PS4

Some new details have emerged concerning the frame rate and resolution of the upcoming shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.

While it was previously hinted at that the game will have a resolution 1080p on the PlayStation 4, that information has now been confirmed. It has also been confirmed that both the Xbox One version of the game and the PS4 version will run at 60 frames-per-second (fps), although the resolution of the Xbox One version has not yet been revealed.

Maybe this game will not require patches for fixing the frame rate, like in the case of COD AW PS4 edition (for campaign part).

With this generation, almost every game received a patch to sort various issues, especially with PS4:
- Dying Light - patch for including AF, better LOD and improved lighting (1.05 patch);
- DmC - patch for the inclusion of AF;
- GTAV - patch for solving the frame rate in traffic (PS4 runs at a perfect 30 fps now);
- Resident Evil Revelations 2 - patch for solving the frame rate issues (not totally solved);
- COD AW - patch for solving the frame rate issues in campaign (PS4 runs at almost perfect 60 fps now).

And a lot of other examples could be added to the above list.

Strangely that PS4 games seems to be less optimized than the X1 counterpart (the above examples do not apply for X1). Maybe due to the fact that it has more power, the developers do not put to much effort in optimizing the games for PS4.

Actually I had similar issues on X1 CoD AW campaign, but only specific sequences, oddly enough the scripted ones that didn't have much going on.

There's still bad lag on the menus of the PS4 version, especially if you set MP or Zombies to default and resume from rest.

On the contrary, I have a PS4 and I like it very much. You can check.

I just wanted to emphasize that nowadays almost every game needs a patch to solve an issue that should haven't been in the first place.

Also, what I wanted to underline is that the minor issues in the PS4 version is not due to the hardware but due to less time allocated for optimization.

I would not say a beast but rather not enough time allocated for the PS4.

In all my above examples the PS4 has better resolution and, after the patch, better frame rate.

Not Really.

You are forgetting the fact that in GTA V's case the PS4 was the best performing version along with being the best version graphically.

The PS4 frame rate dropped a little during high speed in the city yet the Xbone version dropped many more times during hectic moments in which the PS4 breezed through. The high speed traffic thing must have just been a bug so they fixed it in a patch.

I'm wondering if neither company has a marketing deal for COD this year. Last year the debut trailer was running on xbone and there where no details about PS4 (resolution etc) until after launch.

This year things are different. It's looking like neither company has the marketing deal or Sony has.

PC 4k...nuff said. If you care that much about spec, that is the version to get. The last COD was also 1080p and 60fps on PS4 so no surprise there...probably not locked 60fps just like the previous version.

It would be a big deal if the PS4 version were 1080p 60fps "Locked". As, the PS4 has zero 1080p 60fps "Locked" games. Also, the PS4 has none on the way in 2015.

Even Naughty Dog "Downgraded" Uncharted 4 from 60fps to a locked 30fps. And, delayed Uncharted 4 to 2016.

Meanwhile, the XBOX ONE has the only 1080p 60fps AAA "Locked" game in Forza Motorsport 5. Fable Legends, Forza Motorsport 6,& Halo 5 will be the next 1080p 60fps "Locked" AAA games to hit retail next for 2015.

Who is your source from Treyarch that gave you this information; of the PS4 confirmation of COD @ 1080p 60fps? Could we have a name? Or, are you making s**t up like dualshockers & gamingbolt.

You never played Diablo 3 on the PS4? That game runs at 1080P at a locked 60FPS. I believe Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes is also 1080P and a locked 60FPS on the PS4. I'm assuming MGSV will be the same.

Edit: I forgot to mention that MKX is 1080P locked 60FPS during gameplay on the PS4 plus Street Fighter 4 will probably be 1080P with a locked 60FPs. Injustice is also on the PS4 which I'm assuming its the same thing since its a fighter. Not to mention Project Cars is supposed to be 1080P at a locked 60FPS on the PS4.
