Exploring Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One With Creator David Braben

Elite: Dangerous is ludicrously large. Set in a galaxy based on our own Milky Way, the game features over 400 billion star systems with countless planets, moons, asteroid belts and space stations around which to trade goods, complete missions, hunt, pirate, assassinate and dogfight. It’s vast. And it’s coming to Xbox One.

Very ambitious game. I personally don't know if console gamers can handle this game. Its always changing, evolving all through player based actions.

Procedural games require allot of dedication and constant, constant play.

Console gamers have a different devotion when compared to PC players imo.

I play on both consoles and PC. I mostly play on console but I play games like firefall and star citizen on my PC. So what the hell are you talking about, Angelic? Console gamers (especially Xbox gamers, who are already the online centric crowd) will EAT this game up along with any other MMORPG that comes to xbox. Im pretty sure arc are impressed with their neverwinter xbox player count...Elite dangerous will further prove that MMOs have a home on Xbox. I cant wait for it and I know quite a few of my friends are itching for it too. Go figure.

This part especially excites me:

"We’re rather excited about Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One. The idea of being given a ship and 100 credits, then being left free to conduct a space adventure in whatever way you choose - it’s intoxicating. Braben’s assertion that the console version won’t be dumbed down just adds to the excitement. Elite: Dangerous, and all of its infinite possibilities, are coming to Xbox One later this year. We can't wait."

Along with all the other stuff coming out on X1 this year.....woooooo!

There is no need for it to be dumbed down, there's people who already play this game on PC with a controller only.

I don't think you understand console gamers too well then.

u4one3722d ago

a gamer is a gamer. thats like saying you don't know if someone could handle driving a toyota because they drive a honda and the toyota requires you to steer, apply gas and pay attention to your surroundings...

the only thing different about pc's and consoles are the physical specs of the machines. games are games and people that play games know how to play games. :)

I don't think the gamers are any different on either the PC or consoles. Just the limited input options on the consoles tend to limit the in depth type of games that are put on consoles.

Allow a keyboard and mouse to be used on the consoles and you will see how quickly the console only players adapt to the new games being released on the systems.

I hope it's servers are cross platform.

ThanatosDMC3722d ago

According to the forums, no. There's more of a chance for the PS4 to go crossplat because of FF14 and DCOU, but if it becomes like Warframe in which PC gets priority then each console versions are in separate universes (servers).

Will definitely have to try this out.
Looks pretty interesting.

Elite and Wasteland 2 are my most anticipated Xbox One games right now. Feels like the silver era of late 80s PC gaming all over again

JsonHenry3722d ago

Reminds me of the mid 90s personally. But I get your point exactly.

TheColbertinator3722d ago

The mid 90s was the golden era

Elit3Nick3722d ago

All we need now is a resurgence of Battletech, we need moar Mechwarrior/Mechassault

"I personally don't know if console gamers can handle this game"

WTF are you suggesting that owning a console makes you retarded? I have a great PC (or at least 5 years ago it was amazing) and a Xone.

Console gamers can't handle this game cause its GARBAGE. Seriously, it is boring as heck. it is a perfect example of making a game too realistic. No one wants to spend 30 min traveling to their next destination and having to pay attention the whole time so they can hit the button to exit warp speed in a 2 second window - otherwise you overshoot and spend another 5 min going back.

This game gives you NO DIRECTION and has NO PLOT. Unfortunately I own it for the PC. Worst $60 I've spent since buying NBA Live 2014!
