May Cover Revealed – Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

The original Deus Ex is one of the most critically acclaimed shooter/RPG hybrids of all-time. In 2011, Eidos-Montreal resurrected the dormant franchise with Human Revolution, giving the series an updated look while remaining true to the player choice-driven gameplay. Eidos-Montreal knew its game wasn’t perfect, and has worked to improve the series' combat systems and boss encounters for the latest entry in the series – Mankind Divided.

Human Revolution was one of the single best games of the last generation. Simultaneously resurrecting a franchise and remaining true to the essence of the original. A feat that is near impossible to pull of, yet somehow achieved with flying colors. It might be the most impressive debut game from a studio ever.

Thief unfortunately didn't have the same effect. Which was a massive disappointment, considering how good Human Revolution was.

But it Edios Montreal can capture that magic that made Human Revolution such a great game, we are all in for a real treat with Mankind Divided

Edit: Yes I'm glad it's just on PS4 and Xbox One, it means they will fully be able to take advantage of the newer hardware.

I really hope this game is massive. I loved HR but my only gripe is the locations thats looked sick in the background and you couldnt visit them. I cant wait.

They should be able to pull that of with current gen technology.

Square Enix please hire Just Cause 3 developer to help develop an Open World Deus Ex. Thanks.

My only gripe was that his head was too small for his body.

poppinslops3158d ago

Yeah, I noticed that... although - to be fair - it wasn't really his body.

I want to see that concept taken to it's logical extreme - like a trans-human dude with a toddlers body... It'd be hilarios, chasing him down aand beating him up while Adam does his best Keanu impersonation.

Don't get me wrong - I'm delighted by this news (I LOVE sci-fi), but the series could benifit some lighthearted moments... difficult, when you live in a city where the sun never rises.

Eidos might also want to consider making it rain... 'Blade Runner' punctuated it's constant darkness with heavy rain and it was spectacular.

The screens/artworks on Kotaku looking marvelous!

starchild3159d ago

I am incredibly excited they are doing another Deus Ex. The first Deus Ex is one of my favorite games of all time. I even loved Invisible War. Then came along Human Revolution and it was utterly fantastic and one of my very favorite games last generation.

The fact we will be getting a new Deus Ex along with CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077 all in the next few years bows my mind.

_-EDMIX-_3158d ago

lol, lots of RPG love this gen! From the western RPG's to the JRPGs.

So far so good, a lot to be excited about. I hope this team gets a chance to make 2 or 3 games this gen. Always wanted Deus Ex to have a sequel last gen.

Genuine-User3159d ago

I can't wait for them to reveal some game-play come E3.
They even hired the original voice actor. However, I did like the one from Human Revolution as well.

Takwin3158d ago

X-COM did something very similar, and those were two of my favorite games last gen (with Witcher 2, Dishonored, Fire Emblem, Uncharted, Red Dead).

Resurrecting a legendary series like Deus Ex or X-COM and doing it so well is a hell of an achievement. Now they can improve on it by making pathetic bosses FAR better and making it more open world.

KwietStorm_BLM3158d ago

Yep. Human Revolution was one of those few times, gaming, movie, or otherwise, where you would have been justifiably reluctant, knowing that the series was dormant, as they said, for so long, and then brought about by an entirely different studio, but pleasantly surprised in the end. It was easily one of my favorite games last gen, and maybe of all time. It's good to hear them speak so early about the few aspects of the game that needed some design tweaking. Much hype.

curtis923158d ago

I totally agree. I do find it ironic you mentioned "with flying colors" when referring to HR though.... that black and gold. haha.

I knew it,

http://n4g.com/news/1704596...

this game will definitely be a great follow up to the excellent Human Revolution.

SaveFerris3159d ago

So which ending from Human Revolution was canon?

GetSomeLoGiK3159d ago (Edited 3159d ago )

Spoiler

I'm confused, what the tits was the point of the self destruct option or any option at the end of HR? All non canon apparently.

Nightfallen3159d ago

I am absolutely excited by this announcement. I loved everything about the Human Revolution and hope all of those elements are perfected in this. I cannot wait.

And that soundtrack. Oh man, just walking around Detroit in HR with that ambient playing was amazing.

Conzul3158d ago

Yes, HR's soundtrack was top shelf stuff.
