Actually it sounds more like an hdmi splitter from the description. Quite useful if you have a tv with only 2 hdmi ports (like my tv)but a lot of hdmi devices. This device, if it's what i think it is, lets you use 2 or 3 (dunno if they're counting the input as one device so not sure) hdmi devices on one tv hdmi port.

If that's what this device is, they sure picked a stupid name for it and also weren't very smart to exclude pictures of what the device looks like on the back

Given how Nyko overcharges for their stuff(no price listed in the article), you can get a similar device from Radio shack for around $40 that will auto switch without the need for a remote.

A cheap $150 receiver will do this too, probably upscale for you, allow you to hook up speakers for digital surround sound, and if you pick the right kind, give you more inputs as well for all the other stuff you're likely to have under your TV. For $250-300 you can get something even nicer that will convert any analog inputs you may have to HDMI as well.

Nyko is really good at making a lot of useless products to sell at GameStop and similar stores.

I will admit though, looking forward to their hard drive bay for the PS4.:)

This is good for old hdtvs with one hdmi port....dont really trust nyko products though

I have four HDMI ports on my TV, along with composite, component and coxial inputs. And they are all occupied.

I would suggest the Fozomon HDMI switcher. It's cheap, it's very small and it doesn't create input lag.

I went with a really nice Pioneer receiver myself. Upscales all those analog inputs into HDMI, and has tons of inputs(9 HDMI, 3 RCA, 2 Composite, 1 SVHS lol)...which are all still occupied along with all the ones on my TV, along with another RCA switch for all my retro consoles. Although recently got a CRT TV for some of the older systems which look like crap on LCD screens.:)

That receiver is a nice option. I've thought about getting something to upscale my classic consoles, but instead I just bought a Sony CRT and set it up in another room.

I'd love to get the model number of your Pioneer receiver if you have it.

Model number is on the back of the unit, and don't care to drag it out now. It's been discontinued but the newer version is on Amazon.

I think this was the newer version. I got it for half the price though since it was discontinued.:)

This one only seems to have 8 inputs though...

I was lucky enough that my parents never throw away stuff and there were a couple CRT TV's so I grabbed the nicer one. Can't remember the brand, but it has a nice bright picture.

I had one of those explode in a power strip the first day I had it.
Tried to unplug it, and the whole thing just came apart in the socket.
Might not have been that exact one. Seems to be a ton of clones of that thing.

PROTIP: I have a rubber band holding all my HDMI cables together so I can just unplug one and plug another in within a second and it is free. If all your HDMI cables are the same brand then label them with different colors so you know which is which. #lifehack

I have a Marantz VS3002. It has 6 HDMI inputs and 2 outputs. It also switches automatically. Best switcher out there for the money.
