Driveclub Vs Project CARS Wet Weather Comparison

CGB says "Here is a wet weather comparison video between Driveclub and Project CARS. These two games, in my opinion, are among the heavyweights when it comes to high quality simulated weather effects".

Ok, it's official. Driveclub is the best looking racing game ever made, at least up to this point. That game is absolutely ridiculous graphically. It literally looks like real footage.

italiangamer3701d ago

Well said my friend, OFFICIALLY THE BEST LOOKING DRIVING GAME EVER MADE.

tuglu_pati3701d ago

Not surprising seeing that DC is a close Circuit race game and it runs at 30fps.

Very nice looking game.

Why o why3701d ago

I can only imagine how the nexf motorstorm will look like. Bring it

johndoe112113701d ago

@why o why

What the heck is wrong with you? My brain can only imagine so much graphical goodness. You're overloading it.

SilentNegotiator3701d ago

Just you wait until 2071, when Project Cars releases; it's gonna look WAY better than Driveclub :P

nveenio3700d ago

People just need to realize: When you're talking graphics, you just can't go up against a Sony-backed studio. It's almost sad. Driveclub makes Project Cars looks like a last-gen game.

AndrewLB3699d ago

DriveClub has better looking water on the windshield except for how it puddles up even at 100+ mph. lol. Anything over 25mph and water doesn't look like that.

On just about every other aspect of the game, Project Cars is better.

btw... it would be nice if people doing these comparison videos would use recent build versions with MAXIMUM settings. It looks much better on my PC.

Driveclub is insanely detailed just a shame to get all that content you need to buy a ton of DLC..

SniperControl3701d ago

Urr, no you dont, the only DLC you need to buy is tracks and cars. Weather and replays are free updates.

uth113701d ago

Tracks are free too, aren't they?

MysticStrummer3701d ago (Edited 3701d ago )

You can buy cars, events, and paint jobs. Some cars are free, the tracks are all free and weather was patched in.

Ninver3700d ago (Edited 3700d ago )

Real gamers know and do their research before making every gamer look dumb by spouting such nonsense. Either change your username and sound dumb or don't comment at all. Save face mate.

ChronoJoe3701d ago

Indeed, but Project Cars looks good too so I think credit is due for both games! You have to consider Project Cars is doing much more than Driveclub in terms of physics simulation. Project Cars also allows 20 drivers on track at any one time, while Driveclub only 12.

VulcanVFX3701d ago

Actually the player count is dependent on the track. For instance on Le Mans, even the console versions, you can have up to 44 drivers. Also PCars is 60fps compared to DC's 30fps so ofcourse they're going to be able to add more detail and to be fair PCars is still in development, even if only a month left they can do a lot in that time now and days.

Picked up drive club at best buy for 19.99. well worth it, great driving game

Kiwi663701d ago

Except that when it's guite wet in DC there isn't any spray coming off the rear wheels which you get in real life but apart from that it looks great

Ninjatogo3701d ago

There is spray in DC. It's hard to see in the video above but it's definitely in the game.

specialguest3701d ago

Gotta give it to DC hands down. They managed to get the lighting, effects, and environment coming together in perfect balance. Not one thing stands out more than the other. 6 months ago I would've defended PC as the better overall looking racer, but not anymore. However, I'd still give PC the award for best car model, but that's all.

TheXgamerLive3701d ago ShowReplies(1)
Azzanation3701d ago (Edited 3701d ago )

1 runs at 30, the other runs at 60. DC has to look better or there would be problems if a 60 frame Car racer out does it.

Is DC a better game with a meta of 71?That is the question.

xX-oldboy-Xx3701d ago

Project cars has been delayed 'again' - and DC right now is not indicative of that meta score.

Good luck to Project Cars but I can feel another delay coming on.

johndoe112113700d ago

"Is DC a better game with a meta of 71?That is the question."

No, that is NOT the question. That was NEVER the question in this article. The question was which one looks better with the weather effects and that is clearly driveclub. If you need to invent questions for this article to feel better about your preference then that's good for you.

Haters have to throw some disagrees somewhere smh.

EazyC3701d ago

I wish their names came up, I always wonder how totally impartial and level-headed comments still get a few obligatory dislikes.

subtenko3701d ago

This comparison has already been done and DC is still better..

PersonMan3701d ago

PCars looks to have plastic cars and last gen lighting.

Driveclub has physically based rendering and looks like real life.

Driveclub looks better to me.

Gamer19823701d ago

The reason for the lighting being pretty bad is the seriously long development time..

madpuppy3701d ago

agreed, for me, the rain on the windshield looks and acts realistic in DC, the rain on the windscreen in PC appears on the glass and just disappears when the wiper slides across it like magic! :P

ion533700d ago (Edited 3700d ago )

Just look at the tracks in DC. When raining, they actually look wet. There are reflections and ripple from rain drops.

What settings was Project Cars running? To me it looked low...

Off topic: Anyone played DC in fog? I think there was a rendering glitch on one of the DLC events and the clouds rendered just above the track, and it was like driving in fog. Unless fog was patched in and I don't know...

level 3603701d ago

Graphics and the progress on DriveClub really boggles the mind!

But am also going to buy Project CARS because I love very good racing games in general and I honestly think this is one of them.

Classic PS4 Racer DriveClub Is Now a Decade Old

PushSquare:

DriveClub, the legendary PS4 racer from shuttered Runcorn studio Evolution, has such an interesting story.

Originally announced alongside the PS4, the game had been intended as a launch title – we even played it in a big London church Sony had rented to showcase the new system prior to its release.

Evolution was done dirty... DC is still the most stunning visual game of its generation. They certainly deserved better in the end.

VenomUK225d ago (Edited 225d ago )

DriveClub was pretty and I loved the experience of driving in the rain, it was immersive. I had some good races with people from an old forum, but at times I found it to be a bit boring. MotorStorm was such a fun game to play and I loved the controls - it would make sense to remaster that.

DarXyde225d ago

I'd give the visual showcase award of the last generation to The Order: 1886. That game was immaculate.

Uncharted 4 was also absolutely insane, and perhaps manages to use the PS4's power in extremely clever ways.

jznrpg225d ago

It didn’t get good reviews unfortunately

obidanshinobi225d ago

Cause the game was mediocre at best, and surpassed in pretty much every area by Forza Horizon 2.

IRetrouk225d ago

Apart from visuals, driving model, weather effects, only thing forza had was an open world...

Inverno225d ago (Edited 225d ago )

It's multiplayer component was the only thing struggling at launch but the game was still perfectly playable offline. Done dirty is an understatement because how many games after came out with broken online components that got a pass? Now games with an SP and MP get separate reviews for SP and MP smh! SONY shut them down as if Evo had been bleeding money instead of putting out great games. Their fate was undeserved and they were the targets of a media smear campaign due to that one trailer.

Knushwood Butt225d ago

Loved it.
Now here's a game that would benefit from a remaster.
4K, 60 FPS
I'd buy it.

ravens52225d ago

Might have to fire it up. Got it day 1, it was great to me.

outsider1624225d ago

See? Another reason why physical is important. Going all digital will have you miss out games like this.

Gabrielmpf225d ago

I loved tackling the leaderboards. It's a shame they couldn't even keep them.

Yi-Long225d ago

Brilliant game, I really miss it, and it deserved so much better than what Sony did to it.
Most important reason I liked it; It was FUN. That’s it. The actual gameplay, throwing a car around corners, the challenging AI opponents, the entertaining tracks which were peak-design, etc etc, it was above all just FUN to play.

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut85496d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio496d ago (Edited 496d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack496d ago (Edited 496d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander1972496d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff2183495d ago (Edited 495d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim496d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Inverno496d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff2183495d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 495d ago
Chocoburger496d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai496d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC496d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.

After the last installment I’d say most hardcore fans left. It’s just not that good anymore so I can’t really blame EA this time.

masterfox923d ago

because it was always a project and it never got finished :D

ChubbyBlade921d ago

Every game is a project. Your joke doesn’t make sense

InUrFoxHole920d ago

It makes perfect sense. It's obviously a play on the title. Jesus christ you must be a blast at parties.

ApocalypseShadow922d ago (Edited 922d ago )

Ask Bullfrog or Black Box or Tiburon or Studio 33 or Criterion or any of the previously acquired developers who made racing games as competition, or as developers of EA games, then eventually dissolved into oblivion or reassigned. Just ask them. They'll tell you why.

ApocalypseShadow921d ago

Oh. I forgot. Even Code Masters were absorbed into Criterion. Another racing developer EA took over.

Every racing developer either absorbed by EA or eventually destroyed by them. They either kill competition or have them in the end make Need 4 Speed for them.

MadLad921d ago

EA only cancels projects for one reason.
They didn't see enough money in it.

Kombatologist921d ago (Edited 921d ago )

Not when it's because it didn't meet some crazy margin. It's like if something doesn't make EA a billion dollars on day one (I'm exaggerating that figure of course), they swiftly put it out to pasture.

SurgicalMenace921d ago (Edited 921d ago )

Much like if you're spending money on what's a bad investment for your desired goals, you'd do away with it, if you're wise. We should try to get away from thinking we know more about business than individuals that have been doing it for decades. Perhaps you could benefit from going into business instead of wasting all of your talents in comment sections. It's clear that you're the missing piece that EA's been looking for.

MadLad920d ago

I've made a good amount of money betting on underdog investments over the years.

EA sets unrealistic expectations of their more niche developers, yet continue to fund absolute blunders like DICE and the Battlefield series year after year.

dumahim921d ago

EA butted in and messed with the formula and act shocked when it doesn't work out.
