VRFocus reports on the news that a demo for the PlayStation 4 version of virtual reality (VR) compatible theme park simulator Atom Universe is due next week
UK studio Atom Republic sprung onto the virtual reality (VR) scene back in 2013 with the debut of their digital world, Atom Universe. Back then the studio showcased a collection of mini-games playable on PlayStation 4 and PC, with or without VR, and since then the landscape of Atom Universe has continued to grow – both figuratively and literally.
Joanna Mueller writes: "Anyone still lamenting the loss of PlayStation Home will be pleased to hear that there's a new virtual hangout in town. Starting September 23rd the early access of Atom Universe will be available on PS4 in North and South America. This follows right on the heels of the game's Australian Early Access release, earlier this week."

I agree, I've met a few friends on Home just by stumbling into conversations about my favourite game genres. I feel really sorry for the people who sank large amounts of money into their virtual home but I am guilty for spending 5 bucks on a Helghast costume.

Couldnt agree more. Trust me ill get my moneys worth out of PSVR in months time just with having Rigs and ill be playing it for hours daily.

I'm right there with you. I'm so excited. Ignore the naysayers. I played VR 15 years ago or so at Disney Quest in Orlando, Florida. This is leagues passed that, so I'm ready beyond all else. I can't wait for sony to prove that VR is here to stay and a staple of future gaming experiences for us!
This is a great list but I am not seeing No Man's Sky. I thought it was delayed specifically to be on the PSVR.

Well maybe you should worry about your self first before worrying about what someone else does or like. Like maybe focusing on capitalizing your words at the start of a sentence. Or maybe not talking down to people, like calling them retarded and such as you just did in another article.
As you have stated several times now. You will not be supporting VR from launch. Thats cool and i understand that. But it seems from your past comments you have a tendency to do this in every VR article. Like making statements that people are stupid if they buy VR at launch without playing it.

I hardly ever get scared from horror films or games. But, with VR this might change. Allison Road and The Hum are looking great.

These are just some highlights of what I am looking forward to, but there are definitely a lot of other interesting games on this list. I can not wait until an over the top action game with skydiving, vehicles, sniping, underwater action, and night vision goggles. It's going to be insane! Oh, and a boxing game would be crazy on this as well despite some movement restrictions! Actually seeing the punches in coming, using the Move controllers, physically dodging punches to your head or blocking them? This will be insane. I just hope for an improved Move controller lay out with a sliding analog so we can have real movement with two motion spheres for tracking.
I think the best idea for an analog on a Move controller would be one that has a ring for your thumb, which is swappable for different sizes, but not too snug. This would keep better grip and would allow you to pull up to jump and click down to crouch.
As I have read, there are over 200 developers working on PSVR, over 100 games in full production, 88 of which have been announced to the press and 29 of which are fully exclusive to PS4.
It sounds like the industry is as excited as us gamers are to get involved with VR. :)
It sure does. You know it's actually looking like virtual reality is taking off. Oculus Rift started fast.
I have been on the fence over psvr until I saw this list. There are enough great games coming out for psvr, that I am now 100% convinced.
I plan on pre-ordering asap.
It doesn't matter how many games are in the pipeline. What matters are how many you can release during the customers attention span, usually within the first 2 years.
And lets not forget quality games aka system sellers. They need a steady stream of those in order to cement VR's success this time around.
Personally, I desperately want to get PSVR so I can re-live what its like to experience something new again, but first I have to find one to try.
Yea I'm sure they are all must have lol. I've yet to a see a vr title on any of the new platforms that is must have. Still hopin for the best but have yet to be blown away.
Game Informer 1-2 months ago had a whole section that listed every game for all the VR platforms.
There seems to be 1-2 more aside from Occulus & PS VR as well.
Well, TBH, Kinect had plenty of games too. But so many of them were shovelware. For example, that Crystal Rift game looks kind crappy. And Desert Bus 2.0 is likely intentional shovelware (the original was meant as a joke).
I'll reserve judgement, even though I'm excited as hell for the tech. Some of the stuff being worked on looks really creative.
The Apollo 11 thing is actually incredibly interesting to me. Remember, VR won't just be about games...it will also be about experiences. I wonder how much such a title will cost.

Yeah im looking forward to the other experiences as much as the games. Ive literally seen ppl trying out "The Walk" and be afraid they were going to fall lol. That other previewer who tried that space game and panicked because he couldnt open the latch was criticized by some ppl but it was actually a positive for me and a testament to how immersive and viable vr is at this point.
Im also looking forward to using it for social aspects of it and applications that let you tour different destinations or let you watch movies on a huge screen atop different locales (im sure psvr will have an app for that).

This is what i was worried about with VR on the consoles. We are gonna get stuck with these very small/unimpressive games for VR on the consoles. The Oculus is demanding some pretty strong hardware so that shouldnt be an issue as specific games/features can just demand better hardware, but with the PS4 everything must be able to run on it, and i just dont see how they will be able to make any larger titles since it revolves around running on the PS4.
That's total CRAP. Robinson: The Journey is supposed to be really big exploration game. The VR headset has a seperate processor. 'Small unimpressive games'... what are you a troll or something? You have no idea of what you're talking about.
Is it bad to compare the PSVR set to the other set (Rift).. have you seen the requirements for the rift? Yea, its not bad to be skeptical at what we will see for the PSVR when comparing it to the exact competition that is requiring much stronger hardware. Im skeptical, im not saying its going to be bad, im just comparing it directly and it just doesnt add up.

Rift will be above and beyond graphics, I read that psvr will be dumbed down graphics in comparison, but who cares? Graphics aren't everything as long as the game is polished and the immersion is there. Also it is bad to compare as they are not competing with each other. Occulus rift ceo said as much in an interview. 2 completely different markets.
VR headset does NOT have a processor to aid in graphics rendering. All the box is used for is audio processing and sending the combined video signal to an external display.
Eve Valkyrie is on Oculus and its being touted as one of those full fledged, good graphics games. Guess what? Its on PSVR too and ppl have played it and guess what? They have said the graphics are similar to the Oculus version and plays well. What Oculus games have you seen that offer more to what PSVR is offering? They both have good games coming and Rigs coming out of E3 was actually one of the most talked about games out of all the platforms. Like really i dont understand your point? You act like Oculus is offering us a witcher 3 type rpg in its line up lol

Please dont act like that difference didnt exist between Ps3/Ps4 and higher end Pc's yet we have games that demand higher settings on PC still on Ps4/Ps3 like Crysis3, The Witcher 3, etc...

Its cool to be skeptical but dont tell me my point is wrong or moot and not give any concrete evidence except stating the obvious in power disparity. Power disparity has been there since console gaming yet we have some of the most acclaimed games on console and some of the best graphics in GOW3, TLOU, Uncharted, Drive club, The Order, etc.... We also have many pc ports on console which require high settings on PC which is why im refuting your argument.
Im not saying PSVR is as powerful as Rift or a PC lol Everyone here knows that or should.
My point is that Oculus titles can simply demand stronger hardware, like hell they can say you must have a 980TI to play this game. The PSVR MUST and always MUST be able to be played on the PS4s hardware. That is a big difference, please stop acting like there is not. Your mind state is not based on facts it is based on hoping and wishing, and that is not the reality, this is why your mind state of people are always being let down because you are going into this things with your own speculations of what it will be.
Am i planning on buying a PSVR? Absolutely, I am simply skeptical as stated above, especially when comparing it to its direct competition. Also the price point matters as well.

Well the PC as a platform is infinitely more powerful than gaming consoles, but they have small indies too. The fact is, gaming is so big today, that the door is open for developers of all sizes to fit in. Some will be bigger, some smaller. There are big name publishers working on PSVR. It's not like any single list is representative of what's to come in the future, and it should go without saying that smaller games would be out in a shorter time than bigger ones.
You are confusing graphical capability with game size. Two entirely different and unrelated things.
I'm sorry, but if you think that VR is just going to be another 'gimmick' like 3D TV, or motion control gaming on a flat screen, then you're a narrow minded fool.
I have no doubt that VR will be a success. There is a lot of positive praise from even the most harsh critics after they've tried it. Sony even encouraged Devs to NOT make games where you have to stand up, but to try and make games where the player is sitting down for the majority of the time. There is so much support coming in. The Devs are excited and so are the fans.
So you have one opinion, someone has another, but that makes them a narrow minded fool? None of us know how this will turn out until it's out and has been out for enough time to make a rational and objective opinion on it.
If I could wager on VR becoming a success I'd bet the farm.
How well PS VR and OR will do out of the gate is a debatable point. The long term viability of VR is a no-brainer though. Some audio-visual technology progression is pretty much etched in stone. VR is such an example. The last time I felt this confident about a technology was DVD. Difference is I'm even more confident about VR.
Within a few years, VR headsets will be mainstream as hell. Count on it.
Yes, it's going to be a gimmick. It won't stop being a gimmick until VR becomes as natural as sitting on your couch and watching TV. Granted, it's a gimmick that works. It's still a gimmick, and no amount of stamping your foot like a child will change that.

The positivity for VR is far greater than ever. I would be worried if people were saying bad things about it after trying it, but all I've read is positive things. I've even read from people that did not believe in VR AT ALL, but after they've tried it, they are convinced it's going to be a success and that it.... just works.
Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty were very sceptical, but after playing and trying games for it, they have said they are 'convinced' that VR is everything they say it is and more.
I mean. I would never play Surgeon Simulator in a 100 years on PS4, but guess what, I'll buy and play it for VR and that's for damned sure.
